Default Link-bar lifter question

I have a stupid question for you guys running the link bar type lifters, Morels/Lunati etc...
How are you guys going about switching cams with these lifters installed. I would think you could still spin the cam slowly while inserting the 5/16ths rods into the front of the block but wasnt sure if the machined lifter body of the Morel was compatable with the rod method.

Thanks

I am pretty sure you can just pull the intake and valley cover and take the lifters out. Hell of a lot easier than pulling the heads.

Thats going to be a negative, the lifter bores are not opened up to the valley. the only way to remove them is out the top with the heads off. thats why im asking my original question about the rods, I wouldn't want to drop the motor(head studs) and pull the heads just for a cam swap.

Never tried it, but you could probably get 16 pencil style magnets (or telescopic retrieval magnets), lower them in the pushrod holes & pull up the lifters.

I would think the dowel would still hold the lifters up. The good thing about the link bar is that even if one slips past the dowel there is no way it can fall beyond the point where the link bar attaches. So there is no way you would end up with a major dropped lifter type catastrophe.

X2 I'm pretty sure the "dowel" method holds the lifters in place along the narrower part of the lifter where the oil flows.

I would not use pencil magnets, i did that with my stock lifters on my LS1 with a 3/16 magnets and got it stuck down there somewhere... Made me pull the head.
My new method is to buy magnets from Parts-Express and jb-weld them to the old stock push rods so that the magnet and push rod are smooth. Worked awesome!
Can not answer for the dowel method, but it worked with the stock LS1 lifters...
