Default Bogart D10s on the Street?

I just picked up some D10's for the track this year, but I want to drive them to and from the track. Maybe only a 5 minute drive, but someone told me that never to drive them on the street, and to "take it easy" in the pits because the lateral loading will cause the rims to break?

I see guys running skinnies upfront all the time on the street

What makes my Bogarts so different?

Bogarts aren't made as strong as welds which is the main reason there lighter. I drive around on my Bogarts on the street and haven't had any problems. I also drive real cautious with them and don't drive long distances. As long as your 5 minute drive isn't loaded with pot holes you'll be fine.

I've been driving mine on the street for a few months, no problems. I just make sure to avoid potholes and stuff. I wouldn't be worried about the rears much, I worry about my skinnies mostly.

I've drove mine on the street since they first came out for the f-bodys years ago. I put a couple thousand miles on a year, never had a issue on the street with them.

there are 2 different styles of Bogarts P1's and P2's. P1's are a lil heavier and a lil stronger and a OK for the street if ur careful. P2's are a straight up drag wheel.

Just had one break last week. I wouldn't drive on them or use the cheap 165 tires. I have to give credit to Bogart customer service, it is 100% top notch.

I dont run bogarts but I do run holeshots...practically same material. Drive cautious, nearly come to a stop for railroad crossings, I wouldnt put a MT or other front runner tire, try to get a little heavier tire, 165r/15. You should be fine.

^^^doesnt look like he had much luck with the 165s, personal experience I havent had a problem.

I just switched from a 165 el-cheapo to the M/T sportsman pro with the 8-ply load rating. The sportsman weighed 2lbs. more per tire, was much easier to turn the wheels (no ps) and more stable doing everything at the same tire pressure. Just a FYI for you guys.

I wouldnt run ANYTHING but the M/T SPortsman frontrunner on the street. Those damn VW tires are dangerous! They are not made to carry the weight of a 3500+lb car.

Didn't someone make a connection between the cheapie 165 radials and Bogart failures?

Yes, when I bought mine (welded RTs) I already had a new set of VW tires waiting to be mounted. Steve at SJM told me not to use them. So I bought the Sportman 8 ply as he recommended. And yes I drive them on the street, carefully.

Steve at SJM also told me NOT to run ANY radial tire on the skinnies. He said this is the main reason why you break/bend skinnies. He recommended the M/T ET FRONT

I had 15x4 bogarts with 165's on the front of my mustang for about a year and a half and I had to take them off and toss them cause one of them cracked on the inside and started leaking really bad. bought some 15x3.5 welds had them on for about 2 years and havent had a problem yet. I really liked the bogarts kinda pissed me off but im not going to pay to replace them.

I have monocaques on my car and they are lighter then welds so I assume they are the same weight as the D10's and I have not had any problems with them or another guy with the same wheels.

Just avoid ruts and pot holes and you should be fine and avoid cheap small tires.

I have seen local guys that have run alumastars no problems, just have to be carefull.

I was in my buddy's car (not a DD but weekend and track car) when his right rear D-10 with an ET Drag blew out. We were doing about 45mph, just cruising. It broke right where the lip meets the rest of the rim. He never had a problem after that one time though.
