I've been told you need to do at least 16 screws per side if you screw them.

This shortens the life of the tire.(Screws)

Go get you some permatex high tac gasket sealer with the brush in the can, put it on the inside of the bead when mounting the tire. It stopped mine from spinning in the rim.

Agreed, I know people running 7.30 1/4-mile times on radials w/o screws. Use the sealer and forget about it!

Does the high tac sealer work on bias plies as well? I don't see why not, but some confirmation never hurts.

Mine are screwed only because the draglites I bought used already had the screw holes in them. Air was leaking at some of holes so I went ahead and put the screws in. They have been on for over a year now with no problems.

I was using a fast car as an example to prove my point that screws aren't needed. I know the most movement on a sidewall happens on launching, thanks.
The 7.30 car is a 3400 lb '84 Camaro with a BBC and a F3 procharger, best of 1.28 60 foot.

My Nova has gone 1.39 on the 60 foot on a set of 275/60/15 radials w/ no movement.

I had screws put in my Bogart D10s, just the massive weight of the damned car made them spin on the tires

Screws do kinda look cool though, i think it adds 1hp per screw?

i used screws in mine and have been a 1.19 60' on 275's. rpm does not use screws and has been a 1.18 60' on 275's. i say either way you go you should be ok. i just like them for a little insurance.

I've seen quite a few people on here recently running them. I think the permatex works prettywell. My friend runs 1.34 60s on 275s with it.
