A trans blanket is probably your only option unless you want to heavly modify the floor pan.

A TCI will just make it if your fuel and brake lines arent in the stock location, plus you have to do some floor massaging with a BFH. But its super tight and not worth it IMO. I just use a blanket, I put the straps on the block on the LH side, back of head on the RH side so it doesnt slide back.

Couple pics, most guys dont use the straps going forward and without them its hard to keep the thing from sagging like a garbage bag.

Yeah I defiantly had to use the front straps. It was saggy without them, I really didn't want to see that thing come loose and get into the driveshaft!

I have a CSR carbon fiber shield on my Th400..... covers the bell and the tranny drum. Not sure if it will work with an ultra bell or not, I assume it would though.

I also run the CSR piece but I'm not sure about the specs on the Ultrabell so I can't say it would or would not fit.

The CSR piece is a combined shield (Flywheel/drum) and the ultra bell pretty much negates the real usefullness of the CSR. At $300 I'd think you'd probably be better off with the blanket.

Honestly, I wish someone would just come out with a case for the Th400 like a dedenbear or ried case that are available for the powerglide.

I hear that. You'd think with how many 400's are running out there something would be avaliable.

I called and talked to them a couple years ago and they said there wasnt enough demand.

CSR shield wont work with an ultrabell unless you saw the front part off.

Sure would be nice if someone made a nice TH400 case with built in shields.

What do you guys mean a "LSX bolt pattern"? Doesn't the ultrabell bolt up to a LS motors the same as any regular Th350/400 bellhousing?

It bolts up, but an LS doesnt use one bolt on the RH side and uses one bolt in the center up high. It fits just fine but you can only use 5 out of 6 bolts. Not really a big deal, stock TH400/350/PG is the same way.

Yup, but there is some additional clearanceing that has to be done on the ultrabell that the stock bell doesnt require. Rossler charges a small fee to remove the side tabs and machine for the bolt clearance.

My ultrabell fit fine w/o any additional clearancing. Only thing needed clearance was the 4 bolts that hold the plate to the back of the motor.

The one I did was the same way...just grind for the 4 bolts.

yup, that works, you can either grind the bolts, or clearance the bell. Rossler just offers to do it, for a small fee and the you dont have to worry about it. Works either way though.
