Should I switch to a TH400?
i know the car was running rich that night, you could smell it.
So the question remains, make the move to auto? whose done it?
I might end up saving my motor that way, correct?

Consistent 11.60's at 3600-3700 Lbs Race Weight(full stock interior)
This year I rebuilt the bottom end to a forged 383 stroker and have a cam that specs
close to the T-Rex V2. I also swapped the carped and ditched the heat and ac, and
put kirkeys in it to get to 3250-3260 Lbs Race Weight.
10.89 - 10.90's
This year and last year I left off the 2-Step set at 6200-6500 and shift at 6500-6800 RPM
and wouldn't say granny shifting but shifting like a middle aged woman ie not powershifting.
You might want to measure the angle of your lca's. My car came around huge going to the middle hole. I don't use up the whole track anymore... although it's borderline boring now.
5500ft DA, 10.02 @ 136mph, 1.39 60ft.... and it's not even close to being optimized yet. About 650 rwhp NA. 3400# raceweight.

I might find racing even more fun if I'm getting consistent. We'll see.
Please keep the replies coming, I appreciate the posts!
IMHO a weekly bracket car would be better served by an auto. Otherwise stay with the stick and have fun working out your combo. It will be more exciting than the automatic when its figured out.
For myself, I am thinking serious about a weekly bracket race at my local track and plan on building the car accordingly. If I want to take home some of the prize money, a deadly consistant automatic car is in my future.

I'd like to get good, and win a few bucks, so that's my goal...after all of the thinking the past few days.
I ran 12.32 @ 114 with a 1.88 60ft at -1400DA with the 6 speed.
I have gone 12.08 @ 112 with a 1.63 60ft at 2700DA with the 4l60E and a SS4000 converter.
I should have a chance to run the 1/4mi in much better air in a couple weeks. I don't see why the car shouldn't run low 11.90s in better air.
So the car picked up 3-4 tenths and it is a hell of a lot more consistent than the 6 speed.
I'm getting ahead of myself, but what kind of convertor should I be looking for?
I was leaving off my 5 step at 5500 rpm, 3:90 gears
With the spray, I'd like to dial in around 550rwhp, and whatever the torque turns out to be.
I had the white Camaro running 10.9@122/123 and 10.00@133mph on a 150 shot, 28's, 4.10's, 8" 4800 converter, @ 3300 race weight.
I think running 10.00 is pretty cool, car is still streetable and a lot of fun. I'd try to get the car down to 11.2's or quicker so that you don't have to spray a big shot but that's just me.
