10 PT cage

Anyone have pictures of around the dash 10pt cage? Is this as strong at the thur dash? Would i have any trouble Certifing it? I am getting a cage very soon and cant deside on thur or around the dash. any info would be great!
i personally do not like around the dash cages at all ifits going in a car thats barely gonna be raced and you just wanna stifen up the chassis then its fine but if your gonna be racing it a lot i do not recommend it. The bends that are in it to go around the dash are instant weak points if that thing rolls. and i dont think it will cert. too easily but i could be wrong. and going through the dash will not only save your knees and be much much stronger and safer but the cage will be more hidden and out of the way. -tony-
Mine certed easily. I agree the bends could cause failure easier in a rollover. My car went from running 10 oh's to 9.90's in the cool winter weather. I still think it provides much more support than the 8 pt I was running at 10 oh's.
I'm 6'2" and have no problem getting in and out with the front bars. Word of advise: Don't go with pre fabbed bars. Have the add on bars custom fabbed based on your car.

thanks guys tuff call, i rather have it be a bitch to put in and be safe than not be safe or as safe. i need to be cert for 8.50s, what should i go with?

You're not that far from burkhart.. I'd call them and see if you can get the car in and have it taken care of. Thru the dash is a way better deal, no bar to whack your knee to death on, and it's a stronger deal. Gives you a better option as far s future upgrades too.
The other thing people sometimes forget with the around the dash rollbar... is that if you ever have to take the dash out of the car, you're gonna be in for a big time headache. The bars could, prevent you from being able to remove it, which would seriously suck.

if your gonna need an 8.50 cert do the through the dash runners even if they will cert the around the dash bars, if you need an 8.50 cert you will be much safer with the through the dash, and ya like jl said you wont be able to get the dash out too easily with the around the dash bars.-tony-
i have a question about the "thew the dash" set ups, i want to keep the heater and stuff like that, how hard is it to put in the 10 point and keep the heater? of coarse im talking about going thew the dash
You'll have to bypass the heater vents in the corners, other then that you can retain the heat. Just cut/block off the ducts and it can be done. You may, be able to just notch the ducts around the cage and then patch them up, kinda of a pita and there wouldn't be much heat flow thru them, but you'd still have your defroster, feet heat and the heat ducts in the center would work.

No I had Alston in Antioch do my first 6 pt, and then add to it later (before the dash). I then had a friend in Lombard cut the front part out and redo it. I have since sold that car and it's getting a BBC and a 25.2 or 25.5.
I like to race at GLD though I like Byron and US41. I'll be out in the black Z this year, this one is through the dash too though it was done by the previous owner back in MD.

Nice! how did you drill the dash?
Well i might see you out this season. I will be at 66 for Super bowl in july and i hope pinks in june! going up to byron for some practice runs though
