IMO, you should just ditch the 17 inch front rim, it's not worth it, they're heavier and the tire choices are pretty limited. Put a 15 all the way around, and just put a bias ply on the entire car.
You can mix radials front and rear, I've har radial fronts with bias ply rears, bias ply fronts with radial rears, it doesn't matter. Anyone that says it does, doesn't have their car aligned right, or doesn't know what a car should feel like.
The radial rear tire, is NOT going to get you what you want. You will need a 26 inch full slick, or if you are worried about running out of gear a 27 inch tire like a hoosier qtp, or a 28x9 et drag, which actually measures about 27.3 Full 28 will probably be too much, but if you air them up, it may work as well depending on the gearing situation.
Front runner, I'd put a m/t et front on a set of skinny's and be done with it. I run a ds2 moroso tire, but I don't reccommend those unless you have a 3300 lb car or less, because they are a thiner/lighter tire.
Change the tires when you get to the track, sucks I know, I did it for a couple years driving to and from.... but it's not avoidable unless you want to try to run radials, and fight with trying to get the car down the track, have consistancey issues, and if your track prep isn't there, forget it chances of getting it figured out is gonna be a real pita, even worse if the track prep is hit or miss (inconsistant) Bias ply tire will be so much more forgiving, you'll be able to adjust and get it 99.99% as fast as the radial can possibly get you, and you'll make 9 out of 10 successful passes, instead of one out of 4 like a stick car on radials usually does. More fun when you can make passes, adjust and see a change, and if the track goes away, turn the shocks a click or 2 and have it work again.

Im not building a race car. Im just going to pinks this summer and I want the car to do its best with what I. I dont drive the car too much. Its more a show/weekend car really. but when I go to the track I want it to do good or at least be happy with it and not pissed because I was all over the track because of tires and unpreped.
That Firehawk..pretty impressive..but its an auto car..Iv seen that done many timse on 17s..6 speeds are too much shock to the tires and they actually bounce the tires in a since right? The car gets trailered to the track so I wont be driving on bias plys
MY only real question is..if I have a 17x6 wheel up front with a radial like bfg, nitto, ect. and a 15x10 in the rear (at the track) and a slick(bias ply) is it going to be a bad combo at the track only..

You can drive them yes, in the rain you'll need to be VERY careful, to the point of probably just not doing it.
They'll be o.k. with that type of launch, 27x10.5 would be your best bet.
Another tire option that's good is a hooiser qtp, same thing but they make that tire in a 27x11.5 size, which is about as big as you can go without having the tire rub.
Expect about 3500 street miles and 25 track passes and they'll be about shot, in case you were windering the what the life expectancy will be.

I wont drive the car that much..I dont now..I just get in it on the weekends and go to small cruzins around here..thats more fun than racing to me but were doin all this for Pinks lol..
You think with a 4:56 and a 27in tire that I wont run out of gear shifting at 67 or 68..
as far as ET streets vs Hoosiers..I like the Hoosers from what Iv seen, a buddy has them on his camaro...I might have to steal a set from him to try um out personally!!

I think 4.56 and a 27 will be fine, what are you expecting the car to run? I'm guessing somewhere around the 11.8 to 11.5 mark, that should be about 122 mph, probably not more then that, just calculate it out, and figure the tire diameter at 27.5 to 28 inches, because they will grow a little bit.

Right now the car runs 12.2s at 118 with a 4:10 gear with a 26in tire. Horrable 60fts, spins most of first and walks sideways in 2nd and a lil spin in 3rd..
I was hoping for 11.50s once its dialed in perfect..but 122mph I dont know if the car will pick that much up? Will it? Im not a drag racer..just like to play on the street
