Default Skinnies- Bias Ply or Radials up front?

Im wanting to do a 17/15 drag set up and later get some 17s for the rear..

Plan was a 17x5 or 6 up front and a 15x10 in the back. I will be running a slick in the rear..(6 speed)

Would this be an issue if I ran a raidal up front and a slick out back?

Iv talk to a lot of people that say at the top of the track the car will float in the *** and be tooo stiff in the front

Im really limited to M&Hs 17in front and its really for a 4in wheel. I like the hoosers 26x7.5-17 they offer or something like a 205/45/17 in like a BFG or something good..

I wont race a lot but this will be what I run at the track and at car cruzins

Dont mix bisply with radials tire, The car will get hard to control at high speeds, I run Hoosiers 26/7.5/17"radials up front and Hoosiers DR radials 335/25/17 out back, Just make shore you match your bisply or radials but do not mismatch.

Automatic...Unless I have someone help me set my suspension I wont do that with a 6 speed and a radial..

Im ganna leave at 6000+ rpms..My buddy has theses for a 15in wheel maybe I can borrow them and see before I buy a set...

Mixing bias and radial isn't the end of the world as long as it is front and back. Hard to controll comes from the bias walking around. Mixing them makes almost no differance. Radials will be a touch faster because they have less rolling resistance but usualy bias it a tiny bit lighter.

Mine was a factory 6 speed car for nine years and launch hard with the Hoosiers . I went automatic because there more consistent at the track ,and yes your suspension needs to be right, But with a 6000+ launch make shore your tranny & rear can handle it. Thats a major shock on your drive train. And im not saying not to run slicks ,just make shore you run a bisply on the front to match the slicks. If you dont at high speeds the car fills like the rear tires are flat and gets very loose on top in.

I talked to my guy that helps me out on the car, he owns a speed shop kinda local..he talked me into doing more suspension work than I planed and running a Radial. He I can hook on dr if we spend the money right and get it dialed in..so I think Iv got my issue solved..

That way I can still drive it on the street..I really like the Hoosers over a MickyThompson.. IV never had good luck with there Drag Radials..Now..ET streets might be better but idk..never had an chance to use um..

So you guys think 275/60/15 in a Hooser QTP with a good double ajd. shocks it could be done on a Spooled 12 bolt with a 4:56 gear..

QTPs are bias ply DOT slicks, Hoosier also makes drag radials. Both will work but the QTP will hook better and the drag radial will be better on the street. Size sounds about right.

For some reason I thought the QTPs were a radial..humm..idk were the heck I read that but any way lol..

I think with proper suspension I can get it to stick on a radial. Iv seen many 6 speed cars with more power same weight doing it..

Id run slicks but..Im wantin to run a 17in wheel up front with a radial on it..Nobody make a bias ply for a 17x5,6 or even 7in wheel. I dont want a 4in wheel up front..

The only time Id use the slicks is at the track going straight..I trailer it there and back..but everyone says NOOO on radials up front even at the track..

Just another opinion, but you can mix radials and bias ply tires. I've done it for 17 years without any problems at 135 mph in the 1/4.

I dont think radial upfront and bais out back will cause any issues. Also I know a guy pulling the front 1ft off the ground NA running 17 rear Hoosier DRs. Them tires hook!

Id like to try the hoosers drag radial out on a 15in wheel..I just hate to buy them and it not work.

IF I was to get slicks..Im not dumb..I wouldnt drive with them on the street..But Im pretty much sure Iv got to get a radial up front. I wont buy some cheap front eather..Iv Im ganna spend $2000 on wheels I wont cheap out on tires..

Im just soo worried that the drs wont hook. Iv seen it done many times but its winter time and Iv got tooo much time to think I guess ha ha!
