oh ya, forgot to include the questions i have. im assuming "bolt lengths, extra" is referring to trimming bolts?

where are the "sheetmetal, extra double walled" and the "under car tow points?"

if those can be removed, id really appreciate info or answers to my questions

im shooting to at least break into the 11's stock internal

-thx in advance guys
Daniel

You took a nice car and made it a tin can pile of crap to run 12's (and maybe high 11's). Whatever floats your boat I guess....

uh.....thank you on behalf of myself and numerous others who have hacked up a 4th gen

just a challenge to myself to see how fast i can make a stock internal LS1 go naturally aspirated on street brakes

im getting another SS with a whole different build plan. no weight reduction, internals and nitrous

i guess they should have added a 3rd section to the weight reduction list:

*free mods
*wallet mods
******* you shouldn't remove or your car is automatically a pile of crap

FYI NHRA Stock Eliminator cars are in the low 10s & some in the high 9s, cam only but retain stock lift.
spectra carpet is from Pep Boys. its even lighter than speedinc carpet. it doesnt have plastic backing but it also doesnt last as long. ya thats what class i wanna try and run with my next SS. i wanna keep the stock cam in this one

You should be able to get into the 11's easy. I went 11.81 in my black camaro back in 04 with a pretty mild setup at 3400lbs.

The 00' camaro is a lot more refined and went 11.03 at 3080 lbs. both of those stock internal.

damn! after reading that and seeing -Stock Internal 00' SS Camaro 11.03@124. "SI" MPH record in your signature, got me pretty excited!

but then again, id be happy as hell to even break 11's even with an 11.99

N/A also?

also, anyone have a rough estimate of what my car will weigh looking at my weight reduction list and build plan? car isnt finished or id go weigh it

keep in mind im running my stock brakes and stock rear

hopefully someone will say 2's

Get a set of 15" wheels, that will loose a decent chunk of weight. Also, drag radials are heavier than an ET street.

you won't need much weight reduction with full bolt ons to break onto the 11s...

yes they are both N/A. I'm looking to shave about .4 off that 11.03 this season. It looks pretty promising with the changes being made to the car. Its pretty sad money wise whats invested in this car though. Its a completely different car then what it was last year. the shell of the car and the engine is about the only thing thats the same.

With help again this year from Shawn and Ed at Virginia Speed, as well as Hank Hill from hooked up and gone race car technology, should be a fun year going after that 10.68 record.

i priced everything up on my build and its nothing over 5K which isnt bad. and thats all i wanna spend on this SS

i think you'll hit it. good luck anyways. that is a great achievement and something to be proud of. id be proud of myself to hit 11s on SI and N/A. ive put alot of work into mine. i install all my boltons and weight reduce mine myself, so its alot of time and money invested but it always feels good to move up in the rankings

I could of bought a new corvette with whats been invested in the 00'.

I think you'll reach your goal. Just remember, its not about what parts you use, its how it all works together. thats just a matter of going out there and trying things to see what works and what doesn't.

I was wondering the same thing when I read that. The only tow point that I can think of is the little bit of added metal on the front of the stock subframe.
Maybe by double walled they mean things like the upper rad support bar?

Why start with a car thats beat up? because after you spend all that time and money on the car to get it how you want it, it will still show signs of being the beat up car that it was. Makes pretty good sense to me to start with a nice car.

The 00' SS we have is a SS with a few SLP factory options. I've cut the car all to pieces. I started with a very nice car, and when it's done, Its going to be a very nice car still. And worth way more then just the regular car it was before hand.

Its a 4th gen f-body. They made a ton of these cars. If you consider these collectable cars (short of bergers etc...) you've lost your mind. Hes not cutting up a 69 copo camaro. Let the guy do what he wants with his car.

i guess id rather have a nice looking hacked up car than a beat up one. and if i had a beat up one, well...thats more money to pay for a beat up one, and more money to spend to make it look nice or half way decent

thx for the compliment and support regardless

i totally agree with this. it does make sense. its not like your gonna see where you hacked at it (unless your not good with a grinder lol). my car will still look the same on the outside. inside may look different (hence drag seats, aftermarket steering wheel etc.) but nothing hacked all to hell. im keeping all my interior panels and only difference on the interior is drag buckets, light steering wheel and aftermarket B&M shifter

The only tow-point that i know of on the front is a hole in the lower a arm that they attach a hook and load binder to during transport.Good luck on your car.
