Tell him to practice a couple times on the street just outside his house/apt. That way when it blows something up you guys can just push it back home. 2hrs is a long way from home.

If its a stock clutch Id try it. I launched at 4500 a ton of times and the clutch would slip just enough to let the rear live. Aftermarket clutch say bye bye to the 10bolt.
Then I put in a Street Twin clutch and a DANA S60 and the very first 5k dump on a dead hook I exploded the Trans main shaft.

Thats what I'm affraid of with my twin disc and 9", the weak link is deffinetly the tranny.

Same here AC. I love the 6 speed so thats what im staying with. Last year I was dumping the LS7/2 clutch at around 5800 with the Midwest 9" and she wanted more. Got the wheels up, ran a 1.62 60'

I used to do it at 6200 on a 200 shot@ 3600lb raceweight. Good ol moser 12 bolt didnt like it after about 50 times and broke the ring gear taking the main shaft in the T-56 with it. After that I dropped a bunch of weight and went th400.
