I'm confused about the Maine thing??

I was told my 32' will weigh in at 3500 pounds, then the tools, then the car, so probably 8000 pounds, plus a Chevy 1500

You're gonna tow 8000 with a 1500 pickup? Lemme know how that works out... better get some airbags for the truck, and it better have a 6 litre, and 4.10 gears, if it's the smaller 5.3... I dunno man.

I had a 1500 ram with a 4.7 and that thing wouldn't even move my 24 foot enclosed at highway speeds, never tried it but knowing what it did to the mpg on my diesel, I know what kind of wind drag and whatnot it created... Try it, but I bet you're looking for a 3/4 ton with a diesel after the 3rd time you go to the track with a 1/2 ton and an enclosed trailer. Maybe not in ohio you guys don't have the hills we do in CT and NY and in other parts of the country... but still.

1/2 ton and 24'er is doable. It'd be hard on the truck but I see folks do it all the time. There will be alot of sway and what-not, maybe good to the local track, but long hauls would be trecherous.

My main concern would be around the towing hitch for a bumper pull. I see alot of guys using 500# tongue wt hitches on big trailers and it makes me scared. Enclosed trailers have alot of tongue wt, just make sure your equipment is, atleast, close.

Actually, it's the V6!! BUT I live 3 miles from the track, down a straight road. I no way plan to travel anywhere else with that truck/trailer combo. But it is rated to tow 10,000 pounds, and with electronic brakes on both axles, it should stop pretty decent. I doubt I'll crack 40mph on the way to the track.

I've even seen guys with these trailers with ford rangers...now that's crazy lol

Yeah, I'm now 100% positive, you're nuts

oh that 114 will be fine too with 200, no need for any more then that, the 110 would probably be plenty, but the 114, for sure is enough.

Good luck with it all... and that poor V6. Man, I hope you don't like that truck... because every mile with that much of a load on it is gonna be like 1000 miles of wear and tear.

For 3 miles why even get a trailer? I mean if you are serious with your plan to never travel anywhere else with it.... Seems like a waste to me. I travel 200 miles minimum everytime I race, usually with 2 cars so im kinda restricted... 3 miles I would never own a trailer.

I'd still have a trailer if I was 3 miles from the track... but I'd leave the car and the trailer there LOL.

If you're that close, check with your track, my local track lets people keep their trailer and whatnot at the track for a small fee (to cover the insurance) If you can, you may want to consider that. Just have to do all the working on it there, but if you've on a low maintenance setup, it could work out for ya.

that poor V6. id drive the car there and have someone drive the truck with a open trailer behind you. so if you break something you can tow it home. Your truck is going to hate pulling a trailer that big bro sorry.

MetallicaMatt, you talking about Norwalk? I see your from Sandusky.

And a 32ft trailer and a half ton pickup? the front wheels are going to be off the ground when you hook it up. I would go 24 max with that truck. Even thats kind of scary. Its one thing to pull one of these trailers, but the biggest thing nobody has mentioned is STOPPING. Having an enclosed trailer behind you is everybody's sign to pull out right in front of you because people are scared to death to ride behind a trailer.

Anything 30ft or bigger I would seriously consider no less then 3 6000lb axles.

And don't use the trailer brakes to make up for a lack of truck brakes. I've spent a good amount of time pulling racecar trailers. Just trying to pass on some valuable information.

My 24 footer has 2 6000 lb axles on it... probably overkill, but I bet with the 16 inch rims and 10 ply tires that are on it that I don't have to worry about blowouts

Are radials good though? The benefits of a trailer tire is that they can withstand more side loading, correct? for when your cutting the trailer tight etc

That, and the radials tend to be able to withstand the heat from use better, and they generally withstand UV damage better too, coating them with some UV blocking tire shine will also help alot, just have to try to keep after that somewhat. Trailer tire covers, also aren't a bad idea when it's being stored, that's one thing I need to pick up myself.

Bias ply just don't last very long, tend to sway more also when towing. They're fine for an open trailer, but an enclosed I wouldn't run a bias ply tire.

I would also just like to reinforce that while a regular cab, short bed, 6.0 1500 is rated to tow 10,000 lbs, your v6 isnt, no where near it. And I'd be worried more about stopping as promod said.

A v6 is actually between 4300-5600 depending on cab/ gears/ 2 or 4 wheel drive.

i pulled up the regular cab, long bed, 1500 v6 and it's still rated to 10,000lbs.

I'm going to use it for now, but I am looking for a 1500 6.0L right now. I don't know really how much I'll be at the track this year, so I'm not overly worried.
