Default Hood for 4bbl TB

I plan on running a 4150 TB on the 408 I am building and I was wonder what hoods you guys are using? When I drive it on the street I will use a carb hat and piping to a filter but at the track I will just run an open TB.

Which hoods are going to give me enough clearance?

Check out VFN, as you will need a higher cowl to clear it. What intake and will it have a spacer??

You will not need much hood if at all. My Victor Jr. and Accufab 4150 with a Spectre carb hat fit under a flat VFN hood. The cowl on the other hand . If you have a shorter carb hat you might get away with the plate also.

I have a GMPP intake and a NOS cross bar plate (about an inch think) and a carb style breather on mine. The hood is a VFN 3 1/2 inch ss hood Bolt on.
Hope these help.

Thanks for the pictures. I really like the look of the Sunoco wide hood. Just have to decide if I want the bolt on or pin on.

ya a VFN pin on is thin in the back and you gain a bunch of room. I have a sunoco, but even without the cowl its still 2-3 more room then the stock hood thats thick to meet the weather stripping.

I'm not sure what hood this is? hopfully somone else notices it? I remeberit was the same car, he had a elbow, and carb hat setup. But is his a bolt on hood, I can;t think of what style has the screen on the back of the cowl?

Thanks for the pics. Looks like I might be able to get away with the stock hood and no nitrous plate. Then when I add the plate I might have to get a hood.
