I have been looking at the hoosier 28x10 and the 28x10.50 stiff side wall. thats the only 2 options in a 28 really. how do you determine what car would need a stiff sidewall? I assumed the weight of the car is a factor.
its a 2000 SS with a 6-speed manual trans and 3300 race weight.

the main thing that I noticed between the two is that the normal tires actually show that they have alot of tread left but the side walls are toast. I would get about 35-40 passes out of them.
I have been running 29.5 x 10.5s MT for 2.5 seasons now. My 60' times have become WAY more consistant. Also I don't get fading out of the 60' times. They are good then no good. I like that better. I am now getting about 60-70 passes out of the tires. I definitely like that.
Hope it helps

what is your weight? Not every 6 speed needs a stiff sidewall. I dont run them but Im about 3100 lbs raceweight.
nevermind, just saw the weight im a tard....
Im not so sure you really need that stiff sidewall, im running 28x13.5-15 qtp's.. I think they are like the 28x10-15 regular slick. I think the suspension and setup will dictate better consistancy and et, rather than the stiff wall. Unless you were 3500+ lb raceweight.

I spoke to the rep from M/T on YB and he said use a stiff sidewall for stick cars over 3000lbs. So you Fbody guys that are at 3400-3600 definately should use a stiff sidewall. My regular slicks have plenty of depth on the indicators but the sidewalls are trashed. So even at 3050 w/ driver I'm going to try a stiff sidewall.
