Interesting. I will drive these on the street, here and there.

I get more hits out of the et's than the hoosiers although both hook and both are suicidal in the rain w street use.

I have been running the ET Street Radials for years now and they have worked well for me in all track conditions. I have been thinking about trying the Hoosier's since they are a good bit lighter but I hate to give up on something I know that works.

Two nights ago I got caught in the rain with my 275 ET Street Radials and the car was fine. About two weeks ago on the way home from Pinks I also got caught in the rain for the first time and the car was 100% fine, I was a little suprised. I got caught once with my ET Streets and that was a different story but the Radials really work great on the street, I run them along with the Sportsmans upfront just in case I run across a good street race.

I see where you said M/T recommends the 275 on a rim no larger than 9.5"; there's a ton of guys running them on 15x10's, I would think it would be beneficial to have a larger contact patch like that instead of say a 275 on a 15x8.

Good info, Stealth. I don't see any issue with running the 275s on the 10" wheel either. We'll see how it works soon enough!

only used the M/T 275 tire. It has always hooked really well. We have gone several 1.24 60fts in 3 different 4th gen f-bodies. I think that the 275 record right now is on a goodyear if I am not mistaken.

Hoosier has both I think...

1.13 60' on 315 Hoosier

1.17 60' on 275 hoosier

My buddy tried out the Hoosier 275s on his fresh build for a drag radial class car and first pass out it put it on the bumper. We were very surprised a drag radial could hook so hard. Ive also noticed on the street cars around here the Hoosier hooks Better than all of them on the street. The BFG and m/ t seemed to need a perfect surface to launch on. Hoosiers will hook on dirt. Lol.

What's everyone running for a radial front tire on 15x3.5s? I'm leaning towards the M/T Sportsman S/R to match with the ET Street Radials on the back.

hold off as long as you can MT is testing a new 275 designed for X275 ...closer to the hoosier tire ..hopefully will be available before spring ..if you cant wait go with the MT radial... but look at double adjustables for the rear as a minimum...turbo 400 with a 2.48 and a 4.56 is gonna make you work to hook em ...gonna have to work on starting line ratio ...

I spoke to M/T about those tires and they will not be DOT street legal. So, in my case, they will not help. Thanks for the heads-up, though!

well i suppose in the truest sense of the word ,,,however ...
From MT ....in development is a new drag radial designed specifically for the X275 racing classes. “The tire is DOT legal, though we will print it right on the sidewall that we do not recommend it for street use,” says Robinson. “The current 275 radial tire is a true steel belted radial tire, while the newest version will be pushing away from that and go to a lighter, better hooking class legal drag radial tire.”

Interesting. I called their Motorsports line this AM and they said it will not be DOT legal. They said it will be a completely different tire design than the current ET Street Radial, of course, to compete with the Hoosier...but is not street legal. I guess I'll wait and see when these tires run low.

How can you have a non-DOT drag radial, wouldn't that be a slick? I am pretty sure that all of the 275 or drag radial classes require it to be a DOT legal tire. Though the hosier and the ET Street (non radial) are borderline, they are still technically DOT legal when they are sold new.

M/T makes both a "Drag" Radial and a "Street" radial.

I couldn't answer the specifics of the new tire....I'm just telling ya'll what they told me over the phone.

has to be stamped DOT for certain classes ...the hoosier "DOT" is stamped but is a radial construction slick with 2 grooves ...the new MT is is being designed along the same lines ...as the hoosier appears to have the upper hand in X275 ...for a "true" street radial
mt bfg or goodyear ...
