DRAG RADIAL help for a 15x10 wheel, 28" tall,TH400, transbrake
I know guys out there are running killer times on a 275 drag radial, that's not the question here.
My question in setting up a drag radial car (see sig), is what brand/compound/width everyone would go with if this were their car. Just want to start a discussion of options and anything you've found from experience.
The car has:
-Full aftermarket UMI adj. suspension
-~3400 lbs,
-TH400 with a transbrake and 5400 stall
-Billet Specialties 15x4, 15x10 wheels
-275 lb springs, QA1-Rs in front (w/ UMI adj. control arms and K-member)
-Comp. Engineering 3-ways w/ stock springs out back
-~600 HP flywheel
I'm leaning towards a 275/60/15 or 325/50/15 MT ET Street Radial. THOUGHTS??
Please refrain from "put slicks on it, ET Drag, etc etc."

Are you planning on running any classes that limit tire size? As far as brand goes people have gone fast with all of them MT, Goodyear, and Hoosier. How much power does the car make? Do you have adjustable shocks all the way around?

Here are a couple video's from last April on 275 Drag Radials with a single 150 shot. We were shaking down the new nitrous set up and never turned it up. Sorry for the video's as my dad was using his new video camera for the first time and he was a little shakey.

Just this past weekend here in California a couple of 275 radial guys went 7.60's at 186mph+ so you can make the 275's work well.

I have run the M/T 275 dr and love it. I also see ALOT of fast cars on this tire. With the right suspension you will like it too. Tires can only help your combination so much, then you have to dial in your suspension!

Here is a baby launch in the Blue Hawk on 325's . Track prep is almost zero. I'd run a 315 if I could fit it without mini tubs.

All cars are different so you might need to experiment to find out what works best for you. I've used MT E.T. Streets, MT ET Street drag radials, and Hoosier QTP DOT tires and I've had my best 60' times with the 275 MT ET Street drag radials.
I had several people with thirdgen race cars tell me the hoosiers were the way to go, I could never get them to consistently hook and they didn't drive on the street well. They work great on some cars but they weren't for me.
I like the ET streets too, they hooked consistently. They drove better on the street than the hoosiers and lasted a long time.
I feel like I'm getting the best of both worlds with the MT drag radials they are by far my favorite tire that I've tried so far. I'm getting my best 60' times with them and the car drives great on the street with them. I would probably go with a 275 DR to start and see how it hooks. I always like to go with the smallest tire that you can hook with to avoid the exta weight of the larger tire. You can always go to the larger size later if you need to.

275's or the newer 295 55 15 MT. that what I got and they fit without much bangin' (could have adjusted the panhard probably} anyways 1.5 60's with my weak stock motor. mild suspension

Also, MT only suggests using the 275/50/15 on a 9.5" wheel at the largest. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow to get more of an idea about the tire because over-stretching it would be counter productive...I haven't bought the wheels yet so I can adjust either way.
