Default Gearing Help 4.11 or 4.56's

Current set up. Stock LS1 from 04 GTO/LS6 intake/1 3/4 long tubes,2 1/2 exhaust no cats/GTO T56 1st 2.97,2nd 2.07,3rd 1.43,4th 1.1,5th .8,6th .62/12 bolt 3.90's/ 27" tall DR's /weighs 3380 with driver. This is a street/track car.
Guessing 325 rwhp

I'm going thru the traps at 5200 rpm limiter set to 6100.Best pass below
DA 2608/relative density 92.59%
reaction -.1087
60' 1.9403 (normal is 1.84)
330' 5.3822
1/8 8.2628 @ 85.16
1000' 10.6924 @97.17
et 12.6733 @ 106.91 @ 5200 rpm

Should I go 4:11 or 4:56's ? 4:30's are not available for this rear.Would like to see 6000-6200 thru the traps.

I will be adding ported 243 heads and tr 224/224 581/581 cam should put me @ 400 ish rwhp. How much will the head/cam change effect gear ratio choice?

Looked at different calculators and searches, looking for racers experience .

THX for any info

well when you do heads and cam do you plan to move your rev limiter up?
with your tires and 4.56 gears you will be at 6,696 rpm's at 118 mph .
depends on how hard you want to spin.

4.56 seems about right for you, but fwiw, those 4.56 pinions are EASY to break. i ate mine up on my LT1 trans am that only ran 13.8.

See you have a 64 LS powered nova,my set uis in a 72 nova.

Don't think I want to spin a stock motor to 6,700 rpm. Any guess at what you think trap speed would be with the 4:56 ? Better to over gear or under gear,I think 4:56 might be to much and 4:11 not enough. This car will stay NA

there are a few things to consider when selecting the right gear. #1 to me is whats the max rpm the motor will go? #2 is tire size. 26", 27" 28". Obviously the bigger tire will reduce the final drive ratio. If you don't want to spin any higher than 6700, then I'd probably opt for some 4.10's w/ a 26" tire. If you go 4.56's then go with a 28" tire. I think with 4.10's and 28's it might fall on its face (pending hp and weight of car).

id say 3.90s and a 26" thats what my buddy had in his 06 gto, he was cam only 417 rwhp and went through the traps at 118

i had a mn12 (gto trans) in my ta w/ 4.10s and 26" i went through at 6800 and 127mph

just remember first gear is really short w/ those gears, your shifting 2nd by the 60' mark
