You can remove the center section of the steering wheel and replace it with a fiberglass replacement from Billingsley Racing(sponsor). scroll half way down the page: "This non-functional air bag simulator is a great way to shed a few pounds when the factory air bag is eliminated. Appearance is same as factory air bag, and weighs only 1.5lb. Simulator comes primered ready for paint."

Thanks Steve.

Steve, how do you disable the airbags? Are all airbags disabled the same or are the disabled differently in some years?

Let me know if you didn't receive the document from Steve and I will be glad to forward the email I received from him.

You can disable them by removing the airbag fuse. If you want to turn off the airbag light, use a 2ohm resistor. I found this with a search yesterday.

i would just go ahead and remove the negative battery cable before you start. this will guarenty that the air bags are disabled and that there are no hot wires to short out under the dash.

Joe, your car looks GREAT! I'm jealous!! If you don't mind me asking, what size wheel and tire combo are you running on the back? Also, backspacing, clearancing/spacers needed, etc. The wheels/tires couldn't fit any better than yours do!

Thanks in adavnce!

Thanks man. I'm running 15x10x7.5BS rear wheels with 28x10.5x15 ET drags. I'm using a 1/4 inch spacer which is only to clearance the tire from the wheelwell rather than the calipers. I just had to bang the wheelwell with a sledge to fit these. I also cut out alot of the fender with a sawzall(the part outside of the springs) trying to make them fit w/o spacers. Now that I centered the rear a little better I may not need the spacers.

If somebody still has this doc saved, get it to me and I should be able to host it. I'm going to pull the airbags this spring and I'm not looking forward to it so I'm sure the doc would help me out alot. andrew@nitrousfedmuscle.com.
