Only since you have no gearing in the car and a Auto would I recommend a Drag Radial to "Hook" on the street. M/T ET Street Radial can spin and wheel hop like any other tire without proper heating.

Had you some steep gearing or a M6, you could also consider ET Streets (bias ply) as they are DOT street legal and will hook basically anywhere, any condition. But you would probably bog with that much stick.

Nittos do ok but when you want to race, especially when the pavement gets cooler. Nitto's do suck in the cold.

Throwing your Shittos in the garbage would be your first step in the right direction. Put a MT or Hoosier tire on it. Since you have an Auto car with highway gears a Radial tire should work out good. What size rim are you using?

I think he meant 17" rim, not tire. But I agree he should not be overpowering tires in ideal race conditions.

I'm curious of the width of the wheel. It's hard to recommend a tire when the OP could be using a 17x8 wheel..or could be using a 17x11 wheel.

Not to high jack but i guess we have the same question .I have traction issues with mt drag radials 255/50/16 17psi with mods below. I have only tried the stock lca location and the middle on a stock height car. Will the bottom hole make a difference? Does hooking on the street mean u will hook at the track?

My stock slp uplevel 2 suspension (lowered) setup will hook like crazy on the street with 26x11.5-15 M&H Cheater slicks (bias ply). I have 4.11's and I can being rolling in 1st gear at 5000 rpm and hammer it with no wheel spin. With street tires I'm sideways through 2 gears if I try that haha. I've also done a few launches, do a little burnout and try rolling out. Back into your tracks and let it eat. I've launched @ 5000 rpm and it didn't feel like it was spinning at all, when I came back there were black marks about an 1/8th mile long going through 3 gears, although it was hazing it still was pulling so hard I didn't know it was spinning.

Of course torque arm, adjustable shocks, air bag / drag bar help a ton.
