Default Who ACTUALLY does this???

I was reading this thread on here where a guy was launching his car (6 speed) off of the rev. limiter...... I have a 6 speed, chromoly drive shaft and a Mosier 9". My trans is stock but is going to Tick as soon as I get home. Having said that, is launching on the rev limiter possible? Wouldnt it tear the gears in the transmission up? I know my D.S. and my rear can handle it but what else could break?

The gears in the trans will hold it?

I was launching @ 6k for most of last season, probably 80+ runs on a stock T56 with ET Streets (bias). I broke a spicer forged 1350 style trans yoke earlier this season but the trans itself was fine. The T56 is probably stronger than you think.

If you want the best ET possibly with a manual trans as long as tires and rear will take it, launch it 6000 plus rpm.

You just need more torque or a lighter car. You can't expect a manual car to go from 0 to straight to 40 mph without spinning and dropping rpms down to 4000 or so. Unless you have a slipper clutch. If you have enough torque, it's not a bog, it's just the tires / engine running at the same ratio. You will always drop rpm when you dump the clutch and hook. It only feels like a bog when you have a heavy car with a high rpm cam setup. Light car does not need as much torque to get it moving and we all know drag racing is mostly about the 1st 60'-330'.

Ya I hear ya there, how about my buddies 04 GTO m6 with a trex cam. Made like 405 hp / 350 tq. Lol 4000lb car would always bog, ran 12.5's @ 111. Added a little 50-100 shot and it ran 11.2-11.3 @ 120 +. Throw a little 50 shot on your car through 1st gear, it will fly haha, or just wait for that winter (supercharger air).

Mine is a POS, sticks to the floor after every pass. I've had lots of problems with the pressure plate, changed 2 masters, 2 slaves. It holds the power but likes to stick to the floor after every pass. On the other hand my buddies 04 GTO is making 560 rwhp now with a procharger and he has no problems at all! WTF he doesn't even change the clutch fluid...

I had the same problem with a SLP clutch. I finally bought a Tick master and a new GM slave and put a spec stage 3 clutch in it and it quit all that crap. I hate it when it sticks to the floor. The tick master cyl and the big line they sell will most likely fix your problem. With mine the clutch fluid was boiling which caused me to lose all pressure. I hated it. No problems now!

My issues is the POS self adjusting pressure plate the LS7 clutch uses. It obviously does not self adjust correctly all the time. If I set the cruise @ 70 mph on the freeway for about 60 miles it will adjust up correctly. As soon as I get off the freeway my clutch is firm and shifts great.
