Got mine in. No sanding and siliconed directly to the rubber without any issues.

Yo! I'm sure you have heard of this stuff but for those that follow the DMH threads maybe this could be of some interest:

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/04/d...borate-on-new/

Here's a little quote:
The result is called Forged Composite. Whereas conventional carbon fiber is layered down in sheets and bonded together, Forged Composite comes mixed together in a paste of fibers and epoxy that can be squeezed into any shape desired. The application makes it far easier to form complex shapes, and since the fibers come out oriented randomly, the resulting form is apparently stronger in every which direction, instead of fixed ones like in conventional layered sheet carbon.
You could do all sorts of complex shapes with this stuff!

Rear hatch
bumper covers
consoles
seats

Imagine how much a rear hatch would weigh if it was made of carbon fiber with a lexan window. Probably shed 40-50lbs right there.

Who makes a carbon fiber hatch for a 4th gen f-bod?

I see some of these "kits" that are for drag cars that make parts out of fiberglass, but they require trimming and fitting, which is a joke if you ask me. If the mold is good, why should I have to trim 1/4-1/2" off of the piece to make it fit properly? I would be afraid to screw something up.

I know another guy is making them. I'm not sure of the company though. A customer of mine who bought the my carbon door panels was telling me he already had carbon complete doors, hatch, wing, bumpers, and hood. From what he was saying those parts were extremely expensive though.

And I think most people make it trim to fit so that it takes a lot of work out of it for them. It's easy to pop the part out the mold and ship it untrimmed.
