trap speed increase with taller tire
i ran a 116 trap speed on 275/40/17 555rs. i was barely running out of gear at the finish line. i now have a set of 275/50/15 mt et street radials. i believe the mts are about an inch taller. what kind of trap speeds should i be looking at now?

If the tire your going to is taller then the one your using now will have an effect on a few different things. IF the side wall is larger, the tire may have more "give" or ability to wrinkle which can help in the 60 foot.
You essentially gain more RPM per gear which technically makes you "slower" per gear as the overall ratio of ever given gear has now changed BUT if your at or near peak rpm or sometimes touching the limiter, you may see a gain, you may not.
I have both tires as we speak, one on a set of 17" ws.6 and the other on my Convo Pros. IF the overall diameter does not change or at least 1" more, the change you see at best will be due to compound and construction and the M/T would be faster.
