Spring Delimna - What would u do?

Default Spring Delimna - What would u do?

So, my stock rear springs aren't sliding over the spring perch on my new rear end. The diameter of the spring perch is obviously more that the stock spring perch. I wire wheeled the paint off of the perch... still no luck.

what would you do? I don't want to go to a rear coilover. Only other option I know is to heat the bottom coil w/ acetelyne torch and bend the coil out about 1/8", but don't want to ruin integrity of spring.

What spring, What perch (rear end)??

IMO you could grind on the inside of the spring. It takes meterial out but your not heating and cooling the spring and messing with the "temper"

This is my thought, but I'll let the experts chime in.

grinding does no good on the spring. this is some serious tempered steel. The springs already ate up two stones on my die grinder with no effect on the spring.

You need a carbide (sp) bit. Or take it to a machine shop. If you need some meterial out of there.

carbide steel may do the trick.

The one thing I understand about Machining is that it takes a harder meterial in order to cut another. But again, you may want to consider a shop to just do some touch up work. GL!

Or run aftermarket springs and select your rate. A Std. coilover type spring will work.

AFCO and QA1 both work. I am not at the shop to measure the ID and can't remember off the top of my head. You can call Chuck at the shop. He will know.
