wat tracks in NC ill be living in lexington/mocksville this summer it'd be cool to race this class if the car's done and competitive for the class.
edit: i think i found it ran at peidmont the other day. i'll be following this build if you can keep me in mind keep me posted on info for this class and are those the complete rules?

Well I've thought about it some more and I think I might just buy a junkyard LQ4 motor and use a set of ported 243/799 heads on it for now. As long at the tune is good it should hold the 200-225 shot that I am allowed to spay for the class (.082 jet). And if I do happen to burn up some pistons they will be cheap to replace.
I really want to get the car moving on its own again and saving up the money for a 408 and AFR heads will take even longer. I can get a junkyard LQ4 for $700 and people are selling used 243/799 heads all the time.
I got the dash out of the car today and took some pictures with the interior completely gone.
Is it ok to pull the rubber mat that is behind the dash? I know it is probably there for noise and heat but will it cause problems if it is not there. Need to save all the weight I can.
I still need to pull the gas tank and order a Kirkey seat and then the car will be ready for a cage. Gonna have to play musical cars to get it out of the gravel and onto the driveway.

Forgot to mention I also picked up an oil pan from JL ws-6 (thanks again) as well as some Madman LCAs and PHB. Hopefully the car will head to NRC in late Jan/early Feb to get an 8.50 cage. Just have to wait for my tax return + yearly bonus.
Also going to try and pull all the unnecessary wires from the inside harness while the interior is out. Only being able to work on it during the weekends sucks. It is dark by the time I get home during the week.

pull ALL the wiring out and put back only what you need. i did my firebard that way and it was nice because then i knew what every single wire was and where it went. there is no way you will be able to get it all out unless you just start from scratch.

totally agree with this guy^^^^

pull it out and use all new. just get rolls of different colors and do work. i wired my firebird from scratch. even wired up the stock gauges, turn signals, headlights, tail lights, brake lights, etc. i cut everything else just leaving a little length on all the plugs. only thing i left alone was the power window wiring that came into the kick panels. all i had to do was ground the black wire coming out of the kick panels, and put +12v to the brown wire. only took 2 days to do everything. its also nice because then you can get rid of the big fuse and relay box under the hood.

Be sure to pull the steel bars out of the doors, free weight reduction.
And FWIW, this time of the year you could prolly get a killer deal on a ls1/2.
There's another like 60lbs of weight reduction.

I know its going to be a lot of hard work to have a competitive 275 car, its just wiring is my least favorite activity. lol. Spending hours at the track getting the tune/suspension right is hard work, but I enjoy that kind.
