Default Tips to drop a few tenths

i was wondering if there was anything i could do to my car when i go to the strip to maybe pick up a tenth or two? the car is a 95 z28, just a couple of bolt ons and ill be running on 285 nittos 555, not the drag radial.

i have heard that taking the front sway bar helps? does it really?

any other quick things i can do

thanks

Any extra weight will help. Sway bar off only takes a few minutes and is worth the tiny bit of time.

Inflate your front tires to 50 psi and drop your rears to around 22psi.

1. lose the sway bar
2. lose the spare tire and jack
3. clean the interior, get rid of all crap
4. time it so you make passes with 1/8th of a tank of gas. A full tank verus a tank with 2 gallons in it is over 100lb difference right there. Bring a full 5-gallon can with you and leave it with someone if you need a splash.
5. do the throttle body bypass (http://shbox.com/1/tb_bypass.jpg)
6. shallow stage. You just BARELY want to light the staging bulb. This gives you 8" of rollout (momentum) before the timer begins.
7. tons and tons and tons of more serious weight reduction tips depending on how far you want to go. I could get 300lbs out of your car in a weekend but you might not feel so safe driving it, lol. It would be a lot quicker though.

Pretty much took the words right out of my mouth. All I can add is to air up the front tires to max psi and if the car needs an alignment by chance then get that done. If you decide to not take the passenger seat out then put the seat all the way back. You could move the driver seat all the way back too, not really going to do anything but it all adds up. Edit: Maybe syphon your windshield washer fluid out since it's extra weight over the front wheels where you do not want it. You could also pull the belt so your not spinning all the accessories, just watch your battery voltage (could be more harm than good to do this).

Traction first! If you spin then the run is pretty much wasted.

Traction for sure. The weight may slow you down a 10th but spinning and loosing a 10th on your 60 is 2-4 tenths by the stripe. Simple math. Spinning will slow you down more. Plus if you take a laxative before the race then the extra weight of the wheels will be left in the toilet!

Well if your going to ned or somewhere up here then the weather should be enough. I went 13.19 in 2200-2400 da then went 12.74 in -200 da.
But if you wanna go all out nuts...start taking weight off the car like others have been saying.
I was gonna do weight reduction but it was driving me nuts. Takin the back seats out, putting them back in,ect... Iv decided if I wanna make my car faster ill just keep modding and maintain a nice ride at the same time.

Iv been through the back seats with myself many times. Decided its not worth it. I figured its 30lbs. Which dosent add to much if you go my the math. Math says 1/10 per 100lbs. So thats only .03 lol. Another idea about the backseats I have is that they actually help you by putting a little more weight in the *** when you launch.
I wish I was free on sun I would go up. Im planning on going up 1 more time maybe tomoro or another week. I feel I might be disapointed though cause I had to take off my ramair to make room for the trany cooler

Thats why I like to go wed nights the best. Next choice is fri nights but hate the traffic on fri. It can take 3 hours for me on fridays vs 2 hr 10 min at best on wed with little traffic. I could get 30 passes in if I wanted on wed nights theres so little people. I did 14 my first time up. I was told I was crazy but I didnt know cause it was my first time lol

If you plan on more weight reduction then back seats are deff worth it but if your anything like me it will drive you nuts and it never ends. lol

^ For those of you that have been up for Chevyfest, how many runs do you think I will get on Saturday? Everyone does prelims and qualifying right? So even if you get knocked out in the first round you will get a few runs in?

Definetly do the sway bar. You are going to be impressed who much it does for your launch. I was.

It's fine so long you realize it's not there. You will get used to it pretty quickly. I haven't ran a front sway bar on my car in over a year and I've driven it long distances that way, actually went on an 8 hour road trip about a month and a half ago, totally fine.

if your gonna enter the run only class your lucky if u get three runs. at least if u enter a class you might have a better chance at getting more runs in, but dont enter a class just to see what the car will do your wasting your money if u do that.
