Default PC680 battery enough?

Hey guys im fixing to purchase a new battery and was wanting to make sure the pc680 would be sufficient. The car has the factory radio setup, and only other add ons that i can think of at this point that might require a bit more power is the additional racetronix fuel pump setup, and nitrous controllers, botte heater and other gauges etc. The car very rarely sees anything but the track, but occasionaly when i get it out for a cruise id like to know the battery will do the job i need it to. Thanks for the input.

they work fine for crusing. they do not like extreme cold wheather starts or sitting in cold wheather without a tender on them. I had one for a few years and have now moved on to a generic version of the same. extreme something or other. it has a few more cca's and cost was a crisp 100$ bill.

Good to know. The car stays in the shop year round and only comes out for track events or occasional street fun. Sounds like this battery will work fine.

I would recomend getting the pc680 with the metal jacket.I had the regular pc680 and it only lasted 1 year.I think the extreme heat of the engine bay took it out.

Have you relocated your battery? Is this type of battery a dry cell?

If you are going to relocate the battery to the trunk the pc680 will not have enough juice to start the car. I tried that... didn't work too well.

I had one in the front, and it worked, but the 13.5 to 1 compression I had in my old motor, would kill that little battery QUICK if you tried to start the car when it was cold outside, like below 40 degrees.

A stock compression car might be o.k., but honestly, I'd rather have the weight of a full battery and not worry about the car dying. Plus, if you're putting it in the back of the car you mine as well use a full battery, it will move some weight back there and help the car leave anyway.

If I had a street/strip stockish car I might have one of those to throw in when I went to the track, put put the full size back in for normal street duty. Or, just carry a jump pack all the time just to be safe.

like said the 680 is marginal at best in the back, and I wouldnt trust any of the small batteries like that if you plan on using the bottle heater on the street. I just bought my 2nd optima D51 yellow top and I had the last one in the back, never had any problems even with a stereo and amps, dual fuel pumps, etc.

ok well also take in to consideration it needs to fit inside the BMR battery relocation bracket which fits where the spare tire use to be. So what other options does this leave me. Sadly the order has already been made for the pc680 so someone please tell me on a stock compression motor with a car that rarely sees street duty it will be ok for now or do I need to cancel the order and get a different one?

Thanks Kris for the kind words man.

Honestly if you're putting the battery in the back, it needs to be in a sealed box, that bmr bracket isn't exactly legal (for track use) unless you have a bulkhead in the back

If you're just playing on the street, it's fine, and a easy way to put it back there.

Honestly, I'd run something that's full sized, with the battery in the back. That 12+ foor run of welding cable or whatever you're using to get the power back up front, is alot of load.

Make sure you put the push/pull switch in too.

JL-ws6 would that optima redtop qualify as a full size battery?
