I gotta ask, how is your hood attached? Has it ever actually come off on you? We are planning on using 4 hood pins, and should be trapping at least in the upper 140's next year. I guess we are in for some excitement

It has 5 Dzus fasteners on each side and 4 accross the front.
It didnt come off at 177mph.

IMHO you would want that area sealed off completely, as the front half to 2/3 of the hood is a lower pressure area that could evacuate air. Case in point this aerodynamic profile of a FC rx7 clearly illustrates this phenomenon

Or is my basic auto physics completely backwards?

Think it depends on the shape of the hood and windshield I think.

The hood on my car comes a good foot or more up the windshield from a stock one. I think the 150+ mph air rushing in from the bottom will over power any "high pressure area".
We ran my hood both ways .... cut and fully flush to the windshield.
From what I have seen We are gonna cut more out for sure.

Myabe we should make an airpan for the bottom of the car like the land speed guys do.

Maybe thats mine doesnt seem to move. I have 6 down each side, 4 across the front, and 2 in the back, one on each side of cowl.

I'm sure if we put one in the back it wouldnt lift up but that doesnt mean its not slowing you down.

Wayne I don't think it maters how low your car is parked, but going down the track you can see the trans pan

air pan and the front wheel lines I think are what is giving guys the difference between the full hoods. When a removed my front wheel wells and the lower plastices in front pf them. it was a huge increasing is air under the hood. The sunoco cowl moves a lot more without them, even just at 50-60 on the street. I'm gona have my supervic/4150 next year and test AITs with making a nice air pan off the bumper lip to the rack.

Well it matters as long as your not doing a 100' wheelie. LOL !

Thats why I posted that we have less than an inch of travel ... as long as the front wheels are on the ground we are 1" from "parked" height.
