Radials and 6 speeds dont mix huh?
This weekend was the last weekend for the track. Temp was mid 60s and track wasnt too bad. Iv seen it A LOT better and worse but I wasnt there for anything other than to have fun with friends. I drove the track 1 1/2 down each way, averaged 75-80mph the hole way. No trailer queen.
I dont like bias plys, I just dont like how they sway driving down the road. So Im a radial person.
One thing Iv learned with my car and my tire choice..Long Smokey burnouts dont work for me. I do a 2nd gear burnout, 15-16psi before a burnout and just get some smoke and power out of the water.
All day I was cutting Low 1.6 60fts. Front shocks 2 from loose, and rears liked 4s from tight. This pass the 2 Step was set on 6000, the Heavy turd pulled both tires and bogged, Cut 1.64..Next passes went to 6200 to get some tire spin and cut some 1.62s and 1.63s. Just lifting them a little and went another new best of 11.62@119. I just thought Id share, For a 3600+ car with AC and all nothing cut off the car other than sway bar and spare tire I was happy. Now its time to loose weight and get some heads!

My car works great lol..It bogs almost everytime at 6000 if track is working..I got to 6200 I get just enough spin to not bog and cut a better 60ft! The driveshaft....its amazing I wish I would have had it at LSX..

Radials can definitely work, most people just don't want to take the time. OP nice work with the results. What tire did you end up using?
I think you have more in that car also. I'd actually tighten the front shocks on that setup a little bit.

Maybe its not more tire than you need and part of the reason you're hooking. Nice runs by the way. Best of luck in future runs w/ the radials as well.
Radials are very tricky to make work with a stick, and leave that much more room for error when talking consistency. I've only run my et streets (non radial) 3 passes at the track (2hr drive ea way), and she was straight as an arrow @ 130 + mph. The et drag is even better - my MPH actually went up with these vs the ET street radial I had last year, most likely b/c they weight next to nothing and I run higher PSI (15.5-17) than most to get them to spin a little.

I have ran faster in my 6sp. with a MT radial, over a QTP.
It will be going good 1.4's next time out with the changes i've made. Goes 1.50 even on a bad track. And with a 4.11 gear. It takes time to get right, even between track trips, but once you get a hold of the track, they are fine. Gotta drive the car a lil more leaving then a slick, but i like them.

Not to be a dick but with the thread title I really expected some 1.4s or 1.5s minimally. i would like to try a set out sometime but for now I will stay with bias plys.(1.4s 6-sp cam-only last year).

Its got 1.4s in it after I shave some weight. Its my daily driver and how many full weight cars "cam only" do you see cutting much lower than a 1.6?? I still have working AC along with everything else..

Man I could only dream of leaving at 6k+ like you Fbody/vettes do.
Granted I'm only on tiny tires (235's MT ET Drags) but at 3k I cut a 1.7X to go 11.77, gotta love being a lightweight. Unfortunately I can't get any more tire out back without cutting fenders and getting flares and stock datsun rear end/IRS isnt helping either. lol

Big Tires Proves nothing about tire size..I just like the look. This is my daily driver, full weight cam only and does this..I think its pretty good. Everyone on tech always says you need a bias ply for a 6 speed. A 28x10.5 ET Drag is what an inch narrow compaired my 325s?? Im just saying..I was proud I made it work with my only car..
A bias ply is more forgiving and takes less time to get right...Once a radial starts to spin its hard for them to recover and I was hooking so hard I was bogging.Sooo Next pass I launched higher still pulled the tires..No bog, spun just enough to keep it from bogging..cut a 1.62 and went 11.62 to my best ET.

I dont mean to be a dick man but it really isn't impressive and imo it is what is expected. People cut the same times on bias ply tires that are 2-3" narrower and 2" shorter. You may have went with them for different reasons but that tire size is what is helping you hook on a radial.
If you drop weight it will only be harder to hook up but best of luck to ya.
