Default Fuel cell options....

Im just checking out some options on fuel cells. I searched and there were so many topics on this but instead of going through those I will just ask.

How much weight is saved when going to a fuel cell?

I am wanting to still drive the car back and forth to the track and stuff so what size will I need? I know if I drive the car on the street at all then I will need to build a wall to separate me from that cell.

What are my fuel pump options?

How big of a fuel cell would you get if you were me? How big of a fuel cell would fit in the t-top well?

Give me some suggestions on what to do here guys. Im still a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff. Thanks for your patience and help

I'm looking at RCI p/n 2150AS and a Bosch 044 pump for my setup. I was also recommended to go with teflon core fuel lines.

There are million ways to do it, front mount in the bumper support saves the most weight, also using the nylon braided lines rather than steel braided save weight as well

If you are going to run at a track and mount the cell in the Ttop well you need a bulkhead separating it.

Im planning on an aeromotive pump, ive seen quite a few guys run them

If I were you id chop out the t top well and mount the fuel cell up front haha, 4 gal cell so can you get to the track with a 1/4 tank of fuel? I think ive seen 8 gal tanks mounted back there mostly

Give me some suggestions on what to do here guys. Im still a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff. Thanks for your patience and help

I look at a fuel cell as a track only mod to make it worth it. There's not much point to replace the factory tank with a 15 gallon cell. After a lot of thought and planning I will be going with a 3-5 gallon up front in the nose along with my 1 gallon stand alone for the spray.

There is for me. I want to drive it on the street so 15 gal should be sufficient. Also, I have nothing in my t-top area so a cell would finish it off nice. I have rust around my gas cap area so I will just shave that entire area. And I want to run a 4" over axle exhaust and put a big muffler where the stock tank is.

I don't see a 15 gallon cell fitting in there. I suggest an 8 gallon, sure you can't drive cross country with it but should be plenty of fuel for around town.

The point of a fuel cell is to basically A) save weight and B) Safety. You get the most from having the smallest one that you can get away with. The weight of gasoline is approx 6.17 pounds per gallon. So for some track only cars that run a 2 gallon fuel cell vs a full tank can safe potentially over 80 pounds. The issue with later Fbodies is that they went to a plastic tank so further savings are lessened to a metal tank car.

IMO when the car uses ONLY Leaded Race Fuel is when I would consider a Cell, or if safety is a grave concern. The point is that if you want to street drive it, you can, and you do not have to worry about filling it up every 70-90 miles.

Also IMO when it comes to putting a cell in the car, it is for a race car which means track only and at MOST would be a 5 gal cell, if not less and if it can be less, its incorperated into the cage which most times you can do it right in the engine bay. w/o have to worry about making a bulkhead.

We now offer a 2 gallon (approximate) fuel cell that sits in the driver's side front under the hood, outside the frame rail. It takes a bit of cutting to get it to fit in place, but other than that, a pretty simple install. Here are a couple of pics:
