Default Fiberglass rear hatch

I am going to replace my rear hatch with a fiberglass hatch and lexan. There are so many different options I can go with but curious what you guys have done. I am also going to installing a bulkhead with it. What company has the best product?? thanks

Glasstek makes a "deck lid" that kind of replaces the stock hatch. You would have to run a lexan rear window with it.

Now, in all honesty, I've talked to the guys at Glasstek, and from what they tell me, a full fiberglass replacement hatch wouldn't weigh alot less than the stock hatch. So, if you're looking for a full size fiberglass replacement, you would be just a well off going with a lexan rear with the stock hatch. Give me a call if you have more questions. I'd be more than happy to answer them for you. My number is 225-673-3533.

Thanks!

Chaser Aerodynamics sells a carbon fiber hatch. You might take a look at one of them. That with a lexan back glass should save you some weight.

The thing about that is the stock hatch doesn't weigh much at all when you take the back window out. I'm not tryin to say it's not a good piece, and it won't save weight, but $584 for 5 or 10 lbs is pretty expensive. I don't know if that would be the exact weight difference either, since they don't list a weight on their website.

What's that carbon one like? Can a stock glass go in it?

The factory glass is a good bit of the weight! A pin on hatch is much lighter than a factory hatch btw. lol

This is why I say keep the stock hatch with a lexan rear. If you do the lexan correctly, it can be glued on and will look just like the stock rear window, but much lighter.

That's good to know. I was thinking about buying their hatch and a few other things. What's wrong with ur hatch? I thought I read in one of his posts it was made out of a factory mold.

That's nice to know. I was getting ready to drop around $1500 on some doors, hatch, and a spoiler from them. Might just look at some other options now. Can you post any pics of the doors and hatch?
