Battery relocation wire tool??

Wanted to ask in here as it would get answered the best. What are you guys using for the 2 guage wire terminals? Are you crimping or soldering. If crimping what tool or how are you crimping them? Seen the tool on line for 200 bucks, got to be a less expensive way, LOL.

I soldered all of my connections. I think soldering gives you the best connection between the lug and cable, it also holds up to corrosion better although that probábly wont be an issue, It also looks nicer. Here's a a cheap crimper, you basically put the wire in the lug, stick it in the crimper and give it a good wack with a hammer.

I put the connector in a vice. Next I use a torch to fill the connector with solder and then insert the stripped wire. Looks nice if you heat sleeve it too.

Have yet to have a loose connection. Crimp it and put some heat shrink on it and be done.

Thomas and Betts makes a nice crimper. I've crimped them and soldered them. They both work well. In the industial world all your motor leads, buss terminations are mech. lugged or crimped.
