Default TH400 guys come on in

My 4l60e just broke...I hava a fresh built glide....was wondering how it would be in a full weight z28.....my car ia 75% drag & 25 % street.....would a glide hurt my low end @ the track ???

* ALSO... Whats the ins and outs of going th400 or P/G.....will they bolt up ect....I know i will need a dif. cross member & drive shaft.....what else has to be done tyvm**

trans will bolt up ..glides have 1.72 0r 1.80 first gear where the 400 is 2.48 ...lots of things to consider ..400 requires more hp and is heavier ...most guys run a glide in X275 ..its 1/8 mile so you dont really need 3 gears ...power adder , rear gear , car weight all figure into the equation...my advice would be to consult with a builder ..rossler , etc and give them an honest assessment of you combo and your plans and let them recommend which way to go..

th400 would be better on the street IMO, with a full weight car you'll need a GOOD converter to make it work with a glide

Th400 would be a better fit for you right now, glide when teh car's light and making alot more power.

But, if you put the glide in now.. just spend the $ with a good converter and it can work... just going to take the converter to be right, chances are it might take a couple tries to get it 100%

Might be boring... but for the side of reliability, and working out well it is an option.

I do agree on the boring part fwiw. Th400 was fun to me... glide would be less fun. But, if I wanted to be able to do both drive and race, and have the car not just blow the tires off on the street..... glide does have some appeal.

If I were to do it over again, I would have just gone with a 'glide. Spend the money on a good converter and let it roll. As you grow into it, the 'glide will be easier to hook at the track.

Your car is too heavy, IMO. The cool part about a glide to me is that you don't have to worry about what gear you're in and not letting off the gas (compared to a TH400 with a transbrake). Glides are spragless, that's why you don't have to worry about letting off and rolling a sprag trying to slow down a drum with no front band. I, myself love the idea of no sprag but you can truly have a faster car with a TH400 over a Glide. Dont agree, just ask David Wolfe why he runs a TH400 in his pure race drag radial car.

Nope nothing but a 4l80e for anything that I drive on the street. No more th400's on the street!
