Default Lightweight battery?

Are these lightweight batteries only good for the track or are they okay for daily drivers as well? I see those Hawker batteries on the for sale forum all the time. They only weigh something like 8 lbs. but they never list the cranking amps or anything. Would they last if you used them everyday? I don't drive my car when its cold out or raining so I wouldn't have to worry about cold cranking wearing down the battery.
I need a new battery and can get an Optima yellow-top deep cycle from a friend for only $70. Should I do the lightweight battery or get the yellow-top and move it to the rear spare-tire area? Thanks.

The SVR battery I got from Raging Motorsports turns my car over like a champ. Mines not a daily driver and I take the battery out in the winter but it never went dead on me. And it only weighs 11 lbs.

I run a optima most of the time. I switch in the small battery for the track. Takes less than 5 mins. This past fall I ran the small battery for a couple months without issues until I left the car sitting for ~3 weeks without starting (snow). That was enough to discharge it. I swapped the optima back in and recharged the small battery. It's work perfect ever since.

How much do the yellow top Optima's weigh?

I've got a buddy that runs a lawn & garden battery in his car, year round... with an amplified stereo system. He hasn't had many problems at all. But he does keep one of those jump packs in his trunk during the winter, just in case. By the laws of physics, it shouldn't be working as well as it is.

Are the SVR race batteries equipped w/ side terminal posts like the std. F-Body setup, or do adapters or cables have to be changed? What about hold-downs for race battery in stock tray? You make them up, or are they available? Is the SVR 14 the one to buy? Weight of this one is 11 lbs? Anyone in the know...... Thanks. My car gets used to drive roughly 80 miles to track, twice a month from April-Oct only. Will these work with a LS1 equipped w/electric water pump, or no good for that? Thanks again. WJ.

Could someone please answer these questions regarding the SVR lightweight race batteries? Up top, please. Thanks. WJ.

That's what I run and love it.

Had an Odyssey 1200 in a high compression SBC 67 Camaro and have been hooked ever since.

I bought the battery and a install kit from Raging. The kit has hold downs and the adapters. It`s actually preety cool and makes for a clean install. As far as being able to support a EWP, not sure on that one. As long as you had the car running and the alternator was spinning, I don`t see why it wouldn`t work.

I have the same stock battery. So 20lbs weight reduction by going with a lighter battery. Nice..

I went with the 925 because I still have all the creature features and Electric water pump.

The 925 is 26Lbs and is about the same rating as the Stock unit...except for load rating is 100amp higher then stock.

I am putting it in the rear so just wanted to cover my bases for power.

I can always go smaller when I am done but bigger is a hard one

It was like $114 to my door.

Update. Just put the old battery on the scale and it hit 38Lbs
