Default Anyone driving on the street with a manual rack?

I'm curious, how many of you drive with a manual rack on the street?
Please specify if you are running street wheels or skinnies up front.

I don't think I'd like driving with a looped stock rack, but I wonder
what a manual rack would be like. I'm getting tired of dealing with the PS
and accessory bracket being in my way. Since my AC compressor died a few years back,
I've been tempted to mount the Alt down low and just run a short belt.

I'm running a manual rack with skinnies up front on the street, not too bad. Perfectly fine when the car is moving but from a stop can't really turn the wheels so I always park farther away from people. Also doesn't help that I have some play in my steering wheel, I keep putting off disassembling it to tighten down those 2 bolts. I think I lost roughly 13 lbs removing the entire ps system (pump, bracket, pulley, lines, fluid).

i have a looped rack, and with skinnies it's not bad at all. I'm looking at moving to a pinto rack since I have a bmr k member set up for it now. I don't plan on testing it with regular street wheels though.

i also have a looped rack w/ skinnies up front. its not bad, only time you really notice it is at low speed turning. after that its perfectly normal, besides that the only downside is you'll have arms like popeye.

I'm running a madman manual rack with skinnies also. Low speeds kind of suck, but it's not as bad as my 57 belair with manual steering and 8 inch wide rims.

At some point I'll get another set of rims and wider tires (in front) for my street setup.

the manual rack conversion isn't as bad as some would think. the power rack has a quicker ratio which will make the effort harder compared to a manual rack when there is no power assist. We have a complete manual rack conversion available with a real Flaming River brand rack and lightweight adapter bracket for 575.00. it is a complete bolt-on with no welding required.

That's the kind of solution I was looking at.

I ride skinnies with a looped rack. It works, for a poor boy set up. Someday I would like to get a manual rack with a bumpsteer kit on the ends for a beter alignment set up.

Skinnies w/Madman manual. . . . So far, like was said, when starting off turn the wheel the most. Sitting still is more difficult, but not impossible. Steering when moving isn't an issue at all.

We have a bolt in setup with a Flaming River rack, new steering shaft, and bump steer kit.

I've run both with skinnies. A true manual rack turns awesome, don't even notice it.

A looped stocker is noticeable at low speeds and a 5 pt turn in traffic will take 5 minutes.

Does the looped stock rack have any effect on steering at speed on the track? I am talking about steering recovery after a broken axle, wet spot on track, etc. Not a daily driver and I have skinnies so not concerned with effort when stopped. Thanks

anyone take the stock race apart and take the line guts out? I know the neon and DSM and some other guys to commone to take some line or somthing out of there stock power rack, and its a lot better then just not hooking it up. It still has some restriction on it.
