gasoline is about 6.07 6.1 #'s a gallon depending on type and temp.

here the seat weights

2001 Z28 cloth seats n
driver /power- 39.15
passanger /manual- 29.85

front seat belts- 6.696 with the bolts
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11...n/DSC02620.jpg

speedinc carpet 12.910 out of the box, not cut to fit, with matting.

you still have have a lot of things you can remove for free if you want to spend the time. 50-80#s of the normal things

I am impressed. I did not think you would be that close. On the other hand though you have no safety or structural stability built into the car yet. ie. cage and subframe connectors. Either way that is a pretty low weight imo. Good job.

subframes are 20 lbs.. MWC front and rear bumper supports are 20 lbs together if that.. he doesn't need a cage.. so he'd still be 3230.. I think thats pretty damn good still way less than your 3400 guess.. he doesn't even need that stuff you listed either

Wow, chill out dude. Re-read the post before you go getting upset. I did say I thought he did a good job and your right no one needs the safety equip. Just the right way of doing things in a t-top unibody car regardless of e.t. run And I also stated earlier I was unaware the camaros were that much lighter than a firebird. Again, to the op I think that is a great weight for the mods done.

Thanks studderin. Is the firewall mat the black mat under the peddles that go all the way to the passenger side? 11lbs is worth taken off but I wonder how much heat will be comming through without it?

I guess we could probably figure the car was somewhere in between 3440-3500lbs. I know I dont really need a cage untill 11.49 but what about subframe connectors when do you think I need those?

I sent a pm to MWC a few months ago. They told me the bumper supports are 6-7lbs each. Nothing like the Burkhart.
But I dont "need" anything do I? I mean, im not at 11.49 so no cage. I really dont see any use for bumper supports. Forget carpet I like it the way it is. So what about subframe connectors why would I need those?

The big suprise to me was the carpet! I couldnt believe it weighed a tad over 50lbs!

nah man you don't need the front/rear bumper supports.. I ordered mine from MWC just because I wanted to keep it a little stiffer than no supports at all.

Subframes will tighten the car up and feel more solid overall. It makes the car feel like its on rails, again not required though. If your not trying to autocross or going crazy at the track you don't need em.

I will most likely separate the carpet from the sound deadening for my car. I like the look of carpet in there and the fitment of GM's vice SpeedINC's etc. Can you easily separate yours and get me a weight of the carpet without the sound deadening? (Yes I have read the Weight Reduction Sticky for anyone thinking about telling me the weight is in the sticky lol) All cars are different though it would help to get an average.

I really dont think that stuff is comming off very easy lol. As a matter of fact I think someone would have to pay me to separate it Iv seen posts that say its really not worth it to remove that padding but idk
I agree with you about the bumper supports. Mine might hang just a bit lower now. I may get a support in future. Did your hang lower or start to sag?

the frame connerters are a good idea, keep body from twisting on launch, if you ever see f-body's with kinks behind the rear wheel in the quarters it's from that. and if you just get moly tube bed it and weld it it'll weight like 10lbs if not less my buddy is gettin me some tubing to make mine. i took the front support off but left the plastic top bracket and the metal on under that it stays exactly where it was before.

Must be full weight plus all the safety stuff to go 10s? Yea a 300-400lb drop should do your car pretty damn good.

i had a bracket that bolted to under the top of the plastic and went to the core support i believe it help support the plastic and allowed some adjustment with the bumper height and hood gap. it was just a 90 degree piece of metal with 2 bolts on top and 2 maybe 4 on the core support i only used 2 atleast.

lol alright man thats why I included that key word "easily" haha. I'll do some research and see what people say about it. I haven't taken my supports out yet as I'm still over seas but I'm sure it will sag a little more without a doubt. MWC front bumper support is only $150 vice Burkharts being what like $270. It weighs less and he told me it ties in the top and bottom of the bumper as well, can't beat that.
