Default Track time! Any tips on launching with SS3600??

Well guys, Its that time again! Going to the drag strip friday, hoping for a my 12 second time slip! Ive been chasing the 12's for 2 years. Always falling short with a best of 13.03 @ 107.9. Late last year I got a SS3600 with a 2.5 STR and Pacesetter longtubes. Im hoping for a 12.5 @ 109-110. Any tips to launching with this converter? I can stall it up to about 2500 rpms and my tires start to break loose at about 3000 rpms. And, I have 255 BFG drag radials. Im thinking of dropping air pressure to about 17 psi and doing a nice burnout. Any tips would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Tire pressure somewhere between 15 and 20 and leave off idle. Let the converter help you leave.

I stall mine up to about 2500 rpms. In my experience, launching at a higher rpms helps with the consistancy of your launch because it preloads the drivetrain a little. Some people have had success leaving off idle, but not me. My advice would be to try both and see what works best for you.

Well, just got back from the track. My best run was a 12.3 @ 110.98! My other runs were 12.5 @ 110, and 12.4 @ 111. My best launch was from leaving at idle letting the converter flash. So I dropped 7 tenths & 2 mph from just a ss3600 stall and longtubes. I'm very happy with these times!

Nice job. Hard to say how to launch-depends on track prep. Sometimes idle or 1400 stall works best. For MIR private rental preloading it works best for me

Thanks, Im going to try it again this friday. Thats a good idea, to pre load. The first run I did, I reved to 2500 RPM and cut a 1.9 60 ft. And the 2nd time and best time was 1.7 60 ft and that was off idle.

I've always preloaded the car and it works best for me. My 60' falls off a little when I just stab it from idle.
