Stang you do not have to use the rails. You can attach the spring to anything. Some have made there own brackets for them.

I personally hate the look of dzus fasteners. I think 4 pins looks much better, plus installing and removing the hood (incase of a fire, etc) is quickly done if needed. It was a simple install too. Took me like 20 minutes to mount my lift off hood.

I have seen people make their own brackets, I just don't have a welder or the knowledge of how to use one to make the brackets.

I would agree. I think the dzus fastener look is better for race cars, not daily driven street cars. the 4 pins look better to me, I just worry about vibrations cracking the hood and paint. did you run into that issue? can you please post a picture of the brackets you made?

Any pictures of the preferred hood pins? Has anyone used the hinges in the rear and just two hood pins in the front and removed the latch?

I used racecraft brackets. Wouldn't even bother making my own with how easy these made it. As to the fire issue, with how thin my hood is, I don't think it would take much time for a hole to burn. Personally a fire extinguisher through the cowel would be better then opening the hood and allowing oxygen to rush in.
