I'm trying to do it as cheap as possible, so I'm not going to buy new.

Not much progress, as I still need wheels and a rear end. But, I managed to get my engine stand ready (needed casters)... We need to clean up the shop before tear-down because it's a mess, and we gotta do it asap (it's getting cold way too soon!). Although, I happened to find cheap 9" with 31 spline axles and the larger bearings (need to swap out for ball bearings), so will hopefully be picking that up tomorrow.

Hopefully both! But I don't think it will be ready by next month, as I still need wheels and to fabricate all this stuff together....

Yeah the season is pretty much done at bir, I don't know about rock falls though haven't been there. Grove creek isn't too far away either it's a nice little track. Well if its ready next rear I'm sure I'll see you in Brainerd. I'm up there all the time my car is black with convo pro wheels.

Yeah, I was hoping to get it done by October and get some runs in at Grove Creek or BIR, and possibly a race or two, but finding certain parts at a decent price is difficult, lol. At least we have a heated shop stall now that's almost finished!

Am I able to use the stock oil pan from the lq4, or do I need the ls1 pan to fit? Also, are 10" slicks the widest that will fit without tubbing?

Hmm, that's good to know. Maybe I'll go with 10.5's, thanks.

Also, I have an extra set of ls1 heads that the previous owner said has heavy duty valve springs. I was just planning on using those since I need some for the bigger cam, but I don't see a part number on them. Is there any way to find out what model/specs they are? Will the ls1 heads work better than the lq4 heads?

28x10.5 fit with a little mods, that a big tire for you I htink you would be fine with a 26x10 etdrag

the truck pan is gona hang down low, not sure if that clears a stock Kemeber. I would just get a Fcar, oThe GM swap (hummer) holley pan, or somthing not so deep that fits/

Yeah, I don't need to go any bigger on the tires since this isn't a high power build. This guy said he used the stock k-member, and I believe he used the stock pan as well from the 6.0: https://ls1tech.com/forums/carburete...-6-0-swap.html
That would mean I only need an ls1 rack and pinion for the headers to fit, and there's a chance they still may not fit.

I wanted an aftermarket manual rack, but there's no way I'm spending that much right now, so we were just going to modify a used ls1 rack. However, I just saw these on another thread here: http://shop.rackdoctor.net/CAMARO_c40.htm
They're pretty cheap, and ready to go, so I may go this route.

A lot of months have gone by without anything happening. I somehow managed to find a deal on a new pair of rear wheels, so they should be here next week. I finally have the engine apart and just put the cam in. I used the stock ls1 heads with the ms4 and the intake ptv clearance is good, but there's nothing on the exhaust. I'd rather not send the pistons to a shop, so I'm looking for a fly-cutting tool. Anyone have suggestions?
