Default Add a chute or not?

My car is getting ready to have an 8.50 cage put in. Im debating on if I should look into a chute for the car so I don't have any hassles at the track as they had been on my ***. The car is mainly a street car and i'm not sure how I feel driving around all the time with a chute out back. People have mentioned just remove the chute but it would look silly with the bare mount out back. Plus the car doesn't look fast at all and I really want to keep it that way. What is your guys opinion? What would you do? I briefly looked at the Wolfe chute mount. Is it a decent piece or does anyone recommend something else?

It went 146 350 hp ago. I'm looking to break 160. I don't track race very much so I really couldn't compare track shut downs but it's a decent amount of room

The atomic orange c6z that has the IRS record has one that is removable. The entire mount. Maybe a setup like that?

It's illegal and unsafe at that speed not to have one.

I'm having one installed because our local 1/8 mile track has no run off and just a concrete wall. After the concrete wall is the next door neighbors property (Yellow Freight) that consists of semi trailers lol.

That was my exact reaction when I made my first pass. The shutdown is pretty big and I know a couple of 5.20 cars that don't have a problem stopping with race brakes and not pulling the chute. However, any kind of brake failure an your screwed.

Thought the 2011 rules say 9.99 or 150mph which ever comes first needs a chute

^^X3 the rules are in place for a reason, don't put appearance in front of your safety. Do you have your NHRA driver license yet, if not it's another expense/ requirement to consider before speeding up the car.

Most chute mounts are made that they bolt in place of the rear bumper support and the parts that is exposed is removable with 1 bolt . Mine comes out right at the top of my plate. And is very easily removed for driving on the street

If you think you may a need a chute then I would get one in a heart beat. Its very cheap insurance. I don't need one a most tracks but last year I needed to use mine twice, once when my old throttle linkage broke and hung wide open and second time when I pushed water and blew water all over engine compartment and tires at 150+mph.

.

It's much easier to take the cute on & off a couple of times a year,
then to scrap your butt off the track when you needed it and didn't have it.

I've also needed mine a couple of times, once when on fire and blowing oil all over at 143 mph,
and once at 170+ when the master cylinder failed.
