Ok here's the deal my buddy just picked up a 99 z28 bone stock ls1intake to pan,it has a lid,headers full exhaust, stock converter and stock auto, 12 bolt rear w/ 3.70 gear. Went 12.1@116mph 1.7 60fts at the track on a drag radial. Does this sound right seems way fast to me. Car had a ms3 cam at one point and was pulled and the tune was left in the ecm would that have anything to do with it? I witnessed it and don't have the timeslip bc its not my car but I just don't understand how it went so fast.

That is impressive,i would think the ms3 cam tune would actully affect it, you sure its 100% stock? The mph is really good. What was the DA?

DA? Right its all stock except for what I listed I dunno how it went so fast I'm newer to ls1's but that seems way to fast

We would have to pull the trans but it don't flash at all, drives like stock, sloppy shifting etc. Honestly I'm hoping it isn't bc my friend has this bc head now

it used to have an ms3? what cam went back into it? could still have a converter in it, just not a big one.

a converter, slicks and 4xx gears MIGHT put him into the mid 12s.. unless your buddy was 100 miles below sea level 50deg outside and 0% humidity, I doubt his run was that good....just my .o2

I dont see how the car would of ran right with MS3 cam and stock converter? was it stalled at some point?

Yea used to now has a stock. This I know for a fact. The ms3 went in his ls6 motor. I'm not trying to get in a debate I'm hoping I'm missing something bc it seems way to fast for bone stock, and I figure the tune still in th ecm would have hurt the power

It was like 55-60 deg out but I don't think we are that sea level. And dunno about the stall he said it was stock and since it don't flash, or have that quick rev like it should I believed him

Yea it must be stalled, and more then stock, you sure he aint lying about what it really has, his heads mighy even be ported and you wont be able to tell from just lifting the hood

go to Dragtimes.com and search box type in DA and from there fill in the boxes, it will tell u the DA at the time it went down at that track or pretty close to the time.

Honestly the only reason I'm so concerned is bc I'm thinking of buying it from him. And just dunno if I should leave it or put a ms3 back in it. Orginally I had plans but it running that quick I'd hate to take it apart if it a stock freak

My cousin had spray run up underneath the TB... completely invisible..
spray would explain a lot...hell, with a tune and a 50shot, those times are legit..

K like I said his a super close friend swears on his kids lives there's no spray drives this car car daily we only took it to the track bc his actual fast drag car is apart we were thinking 13s. There might be a stall idk but I can 100% guarantee no spray what so ever and the tune is from the ms3

Fully possible for the OP. I did 12.16 N/A stock motor with lid & exhaust in my 6-speed. Have video of same night doing 12.22.
