the k member takes a beating but so do the oil pans...haha
They need a double tube to protect the pan better...2 12 o clockers here and still drove the car home after
looking forward to seeing the car Sunday...
gotta love the prep there on a rental 1.28 60fts best I have seen all year...
also I have a Midwest body mount tq arm so I am not bashing just teasing some since the thread was bragging about how well the k member can take a hit...

Greg has our race front end, it is meant to cut as much weight out as possible but still take a beating and that it did. With the addition of the SYA bars it is still lighter than anyone elses front end on the market.
The nice thing about these bars is they are not a one time use set up.
It is good to see our Torque arm is working out for you though..

Honestly I don't even see where the K member took much of a hit, the fabbed radiator mount looks like it took much or more of the damage then the K member did. Which is likely why the radiator was damaged... it looks like that hangs down enough, and is far enough forward so it will take the shot before the K member ever sees the track.
On a totally different subject is there enough room with the way that K member is constructed to put an oil pan on that has alot deeper sump in the front like a bbc would typicially have?

yes... the 1" thin wall chromemoly tube the radiator mount is made of, the bottom of the bellhousing flange(aftermarket),and the driver side header are what took the brunt of the landing(s). There has been no repairs to any of these parts other than the oil pan replacement which doesn't take much force to crack a stock cast pan. The stress of the impact has had no effect on any of the front suspension components. There is a spot on the k-member left side rack mount that has hit the track but no damage sustained at all.
As far as my k-member construction goes I can put the tubes wherever need be for custom applications. I have even done a handfull of k-members(Ohio Boys have this style) with a different design that allows the oil pan to be removed from the car without touching the k-member or steering- and it's still a 1-piece design.

ground clearance isn't the issue. the steering rack has to be moved forward about 6" for this to be possible and that makes for this design being more of a race only application. Most of the k-members we sell are being used with the stock rack...
