speedo cable driven vss signal generator.

dakota digital makes them.

What rearend and rear brakes are you running?
I'm still rocking out the 10bolt, and I'm running my VSS of the 3channel ABS sensor.

A better question, why do you even need the speedo to work?

I surly hope not... if you have aerospace brakes on the car, and a glide the abs should have been ripped out a LONG time ago.

If you want to log data, a sensor on the driveshaft to pick up driveshaft RPM is what people generally use.

Or are you trying to log data with the factory pcm?

You can run the VSS off of the rear abs sensors... Need to adjust the counts per mile but it works. I'm doing it

If that's the case you may be up the river without a paddle. The only way I can think that it may be able to be done, is if you put the magnet on the driveshaft, and somehow get the counts per revolution to be adjusted to read right. You'd have to see how many counts a stock abs sensor/wheel sensor has, figure out the driveshaft vs rear axle rpm difference, etc.

I don't know of anyone that has done this, but it may be possible. If it does work you're pioneering something that noone has done to date... and it would definitely be put up as a sticky at this point. This, would be very useful for alot of people that want to keep that speedo working... as it would work regardless what trans (glide, th400, th350, etc) you put in the car.....

Any update on this?

I have a powerglide in an 85 Nissan 300zx. No ABS of any kind. Running HP Tuners. I'm about to take the car to the tuner. He is concerned that the PCM wont switch maps (From idle map to drive map) without a VSS signal. I would think many people have done HPT with a glide before, and not run a VSS signal... right? You don't need the VSS signal to "switch maps" do you?

I personally don't care about having a speedo. That's not what this is for in my case though.

Just get a collar/sensor and put it in the yoke, it will put out a 5v signal and log it through the Ac sensor

And I'm fine with doing that... but is it needed to get it to "switch maps"? I don't want to go and add more crap to my car when it may not have been needed in the first place.

my powerglide turbo car has no speed sensor and it is able to switch maps. Dont know how the tuner did it, but im positive its capable.
