Default Gear Ratio Opinions

I'm thinking about swapping gears in my car, I'm currently running 3.42's and wanted some input. I don't want to lose the drivability of my car so I'm thinking 4.11's are out so I'm thinking 3.73 or 3.90? It's a six speed car bye the way and I'd like to stay around 2300 rpm or so at 70 mph in 6th gear on the highway. Is this possible?

Thanks

It's funny that you say 4.11's are out and 2300 RPM is acceptable because a T56 with 26" tires and 4.11 gears will spin 2315RPM at 70mph in 6th. It's like you were predicting the future.

I did not know that, I'm glad I asked I just assumed 4.11 would be too deep and unstreetable

Are you sure about that?? I have 4.10's and I don't think I get that high in 6th. I don't even use 6th unless I'm going over 70-75

Just checked a gear calculator to be sure and it shows around 75 at 2000 with 26" tires, which seems much more accurate. I'm on 28" tires now and I can do 70 in 5th without hitting 3k...

Bottom line is with an M6, 4.11s are just as streetable as any other set, you just have to shift earlier around town. If you drive "sprited", 1st gear doesn't last very long lol

I guess it depends on how fast your gonna go in the 1/4. I went from 4.10 to 3.90 and picked up time and mph.
