Default Anyone daily drive with ET streets?

Anyone here drive with ET streets full time? I drive basically in nice weather only but sometimes get caught in the rain. Should I look at an alternative like a DR? Are they extremely dangerous in the rain?

Cheers,
Chris

I wouldn't drive them in the rain. My buddy has them on his TA and he told me they slip and slide like crazy in the rain.

I drive w/some hoosier QT's some. They will punture easilly and driving on them will dry them out.I mean it take the rosin (stickieness) out of the tire +you will die in the rain.

chris, look on www.intercotire.com look at the m&h racemaster muscle car drag tires. these things are awsome can drive in the rain and with 12psi they pull the front tires off the ground. call them and ask for tom lorden's phone #. he'll give ya lots of info. try them and you'll never want et-streets or drags again. be cool bro.

i would like more info on these tires. et streets are pretty much a handful driving a bunch but they DO last for a long while. much longer than BFG. i know the old school guys love them. why havent they been more popular on these new cars?

I did for a while but they are crap in the rain, and if you have one that tends to lose air it will go flat overnite sometimes.

My buddy did with his LT1, I dont think he drove very far but he said your main concern is sprinklers and water on the road, got to watch out for that stuff. I wouldnt want to take them on the freeway in a down pour. I hate worn out street tires in the rain with these cars.

What about having small pebbles getting stuck in them? I absolutely hate it when I'm at the drag strip, do my burn out, and drive back to the staging lanes after my run to find I have the tread on my BFG's covered in them. Will ET streets get these stuck in them even if not heated up?

et streets are the only tires my car has but its not daily driven. i'd daily drive them if it never rained lol.

i wouldn't daily drive them. i've been caught in the rain several times and it BLOWS. you're ok if you're on concrete but hit blacktop and you are doing 20 mph or the rearend starts drifting all over.

i daily drove several diff sizes of nittos when my car was still my only car and i'd recommend that to anyone..hook great on the street/track and i drove 1/2 bald 16" ones through a friggin monsoon out at school and was fine. I plowed through a 100 foot or so section of road that was washed out with several inches of standing water that day even and got through it. that impressed me about the nittos.

I drove on the ET streets every day for about a month an a half and I didn't seem to get any excess wear. Little stuff sticks to them ocationally, especially after a short drive after they have been heated. After driving 40 miles home from the track they were pretty much clean by the time i got home. Only problem i had, and it could have been a combination of the ET streets and skinnies, but the ABS and brake sensors would freak out on long drives. I can't say much about the rain though, seeing as how it only rains 15 days a year in California.

Also cuz they are sticky I think they are more likely to get punctured... I have seen some get punctured with stuff other than nailes like pieces of tin etc.

When i run the ET streets for normal driving i fill with 35lbs of air. Less of the tire tread/patch to make contact with the ground decreases the chance of picking up garbage and will help deflect rather than pick up sharp objects. I also run tubes so for all i know i could have a small puncture in the slick but the tube still retains air.

I considered the M&H Musclecar drag tires as my daily driver. Tom at M&H said they would be better in the rain, last longer, and hook better the the BFG. He said it should hook like an ET Street. I still may get a pair for my daily driver if the MT Drag Radials don't show up soon...

There is also the new M&H Drag Radials. Not sure if they are out yet:

If you will drive in the rain (whether on purpose or not) ET streets are pretty dangerous, I wouldnt even consider them. The M&H muscle car tires are very similar to ET streets/QTPs, that are wrinkle wall bias tires so I cant imagine the tread design being any better then ET streets in the rain but I havent seen a set in person so I cant say.

I have also seen ET streets pick up one little rock and get stuck, then it will work its way all the way though and destroy the tire. An inner tube wont help (only with rim leaks) that little piece of rubber with 30lbs of air pressed up against the inside of the tire will puncture just as easy as the tire if you run over a nail or something. Not to mention the sidewalls are paper thin and wouldnt hold up to one or two good curbings my wife would do in a week

yes chris, those are the tires. i got a set from my bud they were the 305/40.16 on some 95z rims. the tires were 5 years old, kinda worn, but they still pulled my front tires(no skinnies)off the ground at 12psi and in my m6 i cut a 1.59 60 foot on worn tires. i now have a set of the muscle car drags and a set of the cheater slicks too. i've tried et-streets and et-drags,i'll never use them again. be cool man, mike c. ps-tom lorden told me each tire is 5-lbs lighter then et-strees. the way they make them now,the hold air way better and tom said they don't need tubes.
