Just got mine Saturday, trailer fender height can not exceed 9" or your doors cant open without hitting the fenders! Also make sure the trailer ramps/deck is at a height low enough so the front bumper of you car will clear, the longer the ramps the better, 5ft or 6 even better, also consider the rear of your car coming off the trailer too, its low as well.

My 18ft w4ft dovetail w/5ft ramps

18Ft with Dove tail is the way to go.

http://www.econotrailer.com/

They make a nice trailer for a good price. My buddy has one of there open deck trailers and it is nice.

I bought Fireball's old Closed deck Better Built trailer and it is a tank.

18 foot with a 4 foot dovetail and 6 foot long ramps. A spare tire and four ratchet straps with two axle straps. Also make sure you get trailer brakes.

like everyone else says a 4' tail would be nice. Mine is 2' and kinda sucks to load the car on. I'd suggest hooks on the front and rear of the trailer for strapping the car.......Be sure to get a little more trailer than you actually need, you wont regret it

A couple years ago, i did a timing Chain swap on an '05 Nissan altima, and took this trailer in on trade for the labor:
Its a home built closed floor "roll back"/tilt trailer that works awesome.

Has an 6" stroke, enerpac port-a-power cylinder to lift the bed, a small hydro pump with an integrated 12v motor, and an old-skool warn 8000lb winch, with drum brake, and is free-spool capable.

The front valance on my car is about 3" off the ground, so I built some 5' ramps out of 1 1/2x 3/16 angle to help get the front end on easier.

It looks rough as cobb, but This trailer pulls like a dream... topped out, on the governor at 112mph in my dodge, you couldn't even tell the trailer was back there.
I love the load capacity of the Dayton style wheels, but 7x14.5 10ply tires are getting tough to find these days (7.5x14.5 is common)

Not my cup o' tea. Also like techincally the ability to get underneath if I had to do somethingto the suspension. Solid wood deck makes to tough. My buddy had one and is dove tail with the metal ramps worked great.

I would be getting it just like the others on this post.

IF the ramps are long enough, you dont need a dove tail, and it's actually better if you ever have to back over uneven ground... I built my 40' two car trailer how I wanted it, no one made a decent two car for under $10,000, steer clear of the ebay sweet rivers farms trailers and the like. They are made terribly. My ramps are 7' long, slide in, so you never have to lift more than half the weight, lock in when you pull them out. Usually the cheaper trailers are all crap... dont go less than 18'..

Depending on how much height you need on front of trailer maybe just a different hitch to raise the front of trailer. My Silverado SS is lowered so I run a 4" drop flipped over. If you could make or have longer ramps made that's another option. And the last one I've seen at the track is a guy had made some ramps 5-6" high he kept in back of his truck, when it's time to load/unload his car he throws the ramps in front of the back wheels pulls up on them then gets the car off.

Buy a set of Race Ramps. A little pricey but well worth it. Very light weight.

I am researching trailers too and planning on 18' w/ 4' dovetail, wooden bottom (can haul other things and can sit on it in hot weather), 5' slide in ramps, removable fender, radial tires, 4 wheel electric brakes, good jack, 82' between fenders, spare tire, winch, locking chain box. These all add up, especially the winch, but worth it in the long run.

Tilt would be nice if you can afford it.

I bought a nice hitch that has a total of 16" of adjustment up and down and shows tongue weight. Pricey but worth it.

16ft. tandem axle "Big Tex," was a pure flat bed and I finally got around to beaver tailing it and dropped the back edge 3-1/2" added 1/4" aluminum plates for the "beaver" area, reinforced the area under them, made the left fender removable so I could get in and out and used a receiver hitch with less drop so the trailer is in more of an angle, all to make it easier to load and unload my car without damaging anything, scrapped the heavy iron short ramps for ebay 70" long, 15" wide aluminum ramps. Bought a 9000lb winch with synthetic rope I hope I never have to use, haven't installed it yet.

Save your money and buy an enclosed car hauler, easy to load and you can use it as a storage for your car when need to.

This summer I am building a 24 - 28' open trailer. No dove tail, but will have airbags.
