No doubt man... Have we met?

Reason I asked is the EGR fittings are bad about breaking off at the welds. My Kooks did it on both sides.

When he goes to a forged bottom he is going to switch to 1 7/8s and an Xpipe dumped.

The bit nicer brands also usually have a merge spike... It might only be good for 1-2 HP but anything helps.

Big Props to Speed Inc with this build. I actually even got the headers from them. Best deal on Kooks headers anywhere guaranteed and they ship free AND they threw in a free set of MSD wires and sprak plugs of my choice. Cant beat that!

Good stuff brother. Can't beat free...in most cases. Now when we pull off those steel heads off my 6.0, I may take it to a shop you recommend to get some ported 243's...or maybe an L92 swap.

Id do the L92 swap man. They flow freakin good. PM lemons12 (Evan) about that. He's very knowledgable about the L92 setups!

Just started talking to Lemons via PM, I know he is coming down from TN soon, so that should be of a big boost for you to have someone you can trust watching your back (Army thing for me I guess). As for the L92's my buddy has them on his LQ9 powered Chevelle and its pretty quick, but not torquey...if that makes sense. Either way, I must have boost.

Id throw a centrifugal to a LQ9. It would love the boost and take it no prob with the right bottom end.

I am frugal bro, so if by right bottom end you mean stock...lol, then lets rock.

Makes perfect sense... The valves in the L92s are very large so it hurts the low-mid range a tad. It is there one down fall compared to a cathedral port setup.
However for the money I saved and the power I will make, that was fine by me.
A stalled auto won't notice it hardly as much as a 6 speed car.

Unfortunately its not going in a car, its going in this

behind a TH350 until the 4l80e or 6l80e gods smile on me. I may have to sell a bike or two to fund these projects Lemons. How involved is the L92 swap, from what I have gathered you need heads, gaskets, offset intake rockers and the rail they ride on, intake, injectors and fuel rail...that's all I got

Also added a Comp rocker Trunion upgrade. Cheap insurance...
To get back to your build thread, what is the LSA on that cam?

So it should thump quite a bit. LSA in my Vette is 113...and it shakes the whole car...interesting.

Yea the cam is going to have quite a bit of overlap and will work quite well. Im hoping to get 440 wheel on motor with the ported 243's. Car is def gonna have a nasty lope.

Yes, and a stock ls6 intake.. His last one with the AFR 205s, slightly smaller cam and stock intake made 450Rwhp.

With nice heads, a FAST intake, and a nice size cam you can hit 475Rwhp in a six speed pretty easily.

Ok, I see I need to start reading more. What can we do with an LQ4 Lem? Its in my truck and I don't want to lose low end (ala L92) Would similar ported 799's yield similar results with Caleb's cam? Or is the L92 the end all for budget builds?

You have a lot of options... The Lq4 already suffers from low compression so I would try to stay with a cathedral port top end (ls1/6 style heads), it would make for a sluggish build IMO, you would be hurting in the low-mid range pretty badly.

799s would equal close to the same results as Caleb is expecting... Again though, the compression will hurt you a tad. It isn't anything to cry over though.

I would consider flycutting... Why? You can mill your heads even more to help raise the compression while still running a good size cam. That along with a decent port job would make it a nice setup.

But yes... The L92 top end is extremely hard to beat when looking at $/performance.

Just starting reading your build thread Lem, looks good thus far.
I have steel heads so just changing out those should free up a bit weight off the nose. I know you are not a turbo guy and if the L92's weren't so cheap, I would be tempted to go with 317's and a single T76 turbo.

This is the progress I made today on the steel 6.0 When we meet up in Tampa, I may actually have something worth riding around in.
