Default Transamcoupe98's C5Z Build

Building another C5Z (2004 Mill. Yellow) and going a slightly different direction with this one. My previous C5Z was an AFR 205 head and custom cam with full bolt-ons. Made gobs of power under the curve. Sold it a couple years ago to a guy for a freakin steal. Here is a pic of my old 2001 C5Z.

Now time for the new one. Here it is the day I bought it with 12k on the odometer. Bone stock down to paper air filter.

I have progressively bought everything I need to make one nasty full weight, air conditioned, street car for fairly cheap. First thing I did was got rid of the C5Z wheels and bought some gloss black C6Z wheels with 18'' Nitto 555R drag radials.

Then decided to black out the lower rear fascia, like the "CETA" mod...and I also added some LED Halo taillights.

With all of this extra power Im going to be making, I need a clutch that will support it. I talked with Doug at ECS and hooked me up with a Mantic Er2, capable of holding whatever I need to throw at it.

Im big on color coordinating, and the theme for this car was going to be yellow with black accents. With that said, the calipers were red stock, so I had them professionally done with Mill. Yellow paint code.

Also, Body side molding or (BSMs) have been taken off, they are hideous. Along with that, car has been lowered all the down using longer aftermarket lowering bolts (Approximately 1.75'').

Had to get this thing breathing a little better so I took off the stock Titanium cat back exhaust and replaced it with Borla Stingers. Had them on my last Z06 and love the note while cruising and WOT.

I got with Thompson Motorsports and spec'd a cam that would make great power everywhere in my power band and ideal for my compression ratio. The grinder is Howard's cams, sort of old school brand but have heard good things about their proprietary lobes. This was actually the hardest part for me in this entire build. Cam and valve train geometry is so important, I wanted to make use everything was spot on and squeeze every little **** hair worth of power out of it on motor. Also added a Comp rocker Trunion upgrade. Cheap insurance...

Need to slow this thing down so I got a nice set of Powerstop rotors and ceramic pads. Great price, and they are going to look good.

Thanks guys. Only have headers left to buy. Trying to get ahold of a set of XS power headers but they have been out of stock for nearly 2 months now.

Yes...2 months, going to be epic. Justin needs a build thread next.

Thanks Casey, excited to see what you decide to do with your setup. Must keep us posted. Although, everyone is going to have their little secrets with the setups...

We have pictures of everything from his build.. He is waiting until he get the motor in/D1 on and started until he starts the thread so he can post a lot at once. We got the motor in today... Should be started by the end of next week easily.

I don't think anyone doesn't have 1-2 secrets they don't plan on letting out of the bag. LOL

Old red C5Z VS another buddies ported/pulled 03 Cobra... Cobra made roughly 515Rwhp IIRC. I was in the Z recording, no passengers in the Cobra (did have two rims/tires from the drag strip earlier that night however).
Z short shifted the last gear a few hundred RPMs... The Cobra was around 7200RPMs IIRC trying to not shift.

Seriously. I wish mine had plans but at 21 you have to change things as you go sometimes
