Default Car trailer & Winch question

I bought a flat bed car trailer with dove tail, there's a provision for a winch. My question is should I spend the money to mount a winch? I know if I broke I could get help to roll it up the ramps but what about if I broke a rear or something that made the car difficult to roll?

Looking for suggestions and opinions.

A good winch would drag the car up in park if you wanted it too. As JL said...never a bad idea to get one

A winch is like a insurance policy its there just incase you need it.I would think a 6,000lb would be enough I have a superwinch which is rated for 4,000 and have no problems.

A 6000# is more than enough IMO....if you use a block and double the line, it doubles the rating.
I was looking at a 2-3000# one down the road. The 3/4T come-a-long pulled my car right up with the only problem being it's manual

I use an 8000lb warn winch along with a block to make it easy on the winch. The winch doesn't have any problem pulling a car up I just throw it on. The heaviest load I have put on it was a 71 Cadillac with 4 flat tires and that wasn't bad. Other advice would be to buy a good winch because I know several people that have off brand 10,000lb winches that won't even pull an empty F-body up a trailer.

I have used 3,000lb harbor freight winches in my last 4 trailers and have have one in my enclosed trailer now. They are not the best by any means but for $100 you can't beat them. I have never had one fail or not pull a car in or on a trailer.
I just checked harbor freight and it looks like they changed brands so I dont know about the current ones.

If you ever broke the rear or did something to cause a wheel to not turn, you can use plastic sliders under the tire to minimize the friction. You can also throw down a line of dish soap.

Maybe if you are wheeling and bury yourself to the frame.
