You have an LT1, why do you need a fire jacket

You could go out and spend $250 on a double-layer jacket if you desire.

However, once you're strapped in with your helmet on, door closed, window up, no a/c, sweating your ***** off, you'll ask yourself why you have a winter coat on.

Just get a single layer Simpson jacket and call it a day.

Single layer is ok to 10.00 and/or 134.99 MPH. SFI 3.2a/1

Double layer is 9.99 or quicker and/or 135 MPH or more. SFI 3.2a/5

You can always wear more with the NHRA, but not less. If you are going 9.99 or quicker and/or 135 MPH or more, you are required to have a full face helmet, neck roll or Hans device, and gloves.

At a certain ET and MPH quicker than mentioned requires even more stringent certifications.

Hahaha! That was funny!

No expiration on the jackets and pants like there is on the helmets and seat belts for the NHRA. That goes for 3.2a/1 and 3.2a/5. I don't know if there are expiration dates on the quicker stuff.
