Quieter mufflers off headers to replace bullets Whsts up fellas, I recently got my new motor setup started , as far as exhaust , I'm running kooks 1 7/8 stepped to 2 inch headers with about a foot of pipe coming off each collector to bullet mufflers dumped , i figured it would be loud compared to my TsP td's , but damn , this thing sounds like open headers almost. Looking to switch the bullets out for something quieter, I've got to run this style exhaust to clear my Burkhart ta, plus it's lighter and I have complete access to everything without that damn xpipe setup in the way, let me know what u guys are running and what my options are
XR1s aren't bad. Vibrant makes an oval resonator that is VERY quiet for the size. Best one I've ever heard.

I've always wondered how much more a y-pipe with a good merge and a 4" muffler turned down at the axle would weigh over running two mufflers like the XR1s mentioned right off the headers? I think not having a headache after street driving would be worth the weight difference that could be taken out somewhere else

Verdad Gallardo On the 'Tech white Z/28, I first ran Dynomax bullets dumped, and then a set of Dynatech Splitflows. To my surprise the car was still pretty loud.
On my '98 Formula I ran twin 3" Borla XR1's behind the blower setup and it was much quieter. On this car I also ran a Mufflex 4", first the Flowmaster muffler, then the Dynomax 4" muffler, I think it was the welded one. Both sounded good. I've heard 4" mufflers dumped at the rear and they can sound pretty good. One thing you can also do is angle the tip, so not straight down but angled towards the passenger side... nicer for the driver.
