Default Timing Chain Question

I'm starting to second guess my timing chain. It's a LS2 chain with the gear set that Yank is selling. I have the LS2 plastic damper on it also. And a Melling Oil Pump.
I'm running a stock size ATI Super Damper, electric Meizere Race Water Pump and BMR alternator relocation kit. No power steering. Only one belt, alternator
Do I need to upgrade to a double row set-up or a better chain than the LS2.
I think I heard there might be some clearance problems with the double row chain and Melling oil pump.
Motor is in my sig. Motor only has dyno time on it now.

Whether or not you really need one or not I can't say. As for the clearance issue, I have a double row timing set and I had to grind a little on the inside of the timing cover to get it to sit flush. I've read some people have to do this and some don't. There's a thread somewhere on here with pics of a guy showing where he ground his cover to make it fit.

We always run the C5R chain. It's a single and never had a problem with them. I've got one on my shop car without worries.

If youre running a solid roller with very heavy springs the chain might be an issue

Hydraulic cam and TEA .660 springs.

Yeah, if I upgrade to a single, I've heard good things about the C5R chain.

This car is going to see 7,000+ rmp's it's whole life. LOL.

With the use you are giving it a double row with an adjustable cam timing setup would be worth while, 2 piece cover so if you want to try playing with cam advance/retard easily you can... If its all new; on the stand and $ isn't a deciding factor do it. The clearancing you will have to do is not that difficult, dremel can do it.

I did adjustable double just to safe. Had to machine the front plate on the meilling pump and clearance a few spots on the front LS2 cover. Th hump where the sensor bolts on has to be cut a decent amount.

Well the motor in the car, just afew things to do, for start up. But motor can easily be pull again. I'm putting my 2" Kooks on today and may have to lift the motor up off the mounts to get them on, because of clearance with my 6 bolt heads. I'm so close to finishing this build, I started second guessing the timing chain, because it's the weak link in the build, everything else is "top of the line parts".
I just need some reassureance that the LS2 chain is going to be O.K.

As said we have no problems with the C5R. If we have one break I'll post it no problem. We've actually seen more dual chains break than singles.

Running the C5R in my car and have no worries. Had one in my last C5R motor shifting at 7400rpm and have on in this setup with heavy spring pressure's.

I'd feel better with the C5R chain, but I think I'm going to stay with the LS2 chain.
With the harmonics of this motor, I think it will be O.K.

Just takes a little time and a Dremel tool. After this there was still a little clearancing for the cam sensor boss as already mentioned.

The NEWER pumps come with recessed (countersunk) fasteners to help with clearance issues (as shown).

C5R single gets my vote with a hydraulic roller and no more than 450-475# OPEN!
